I wish I'd purchased these years ago because they're exactly what I needed! Except that they are now more affordable than they were many years ago, making them a better value. They're bright 11W incandescent light bulbs with holes for hooks to secure them to a fence (which is where mine are installed via "cup screws"), and it only took 15 minutes to install all 96 feet along the left, back, and right sides of my backyard fence. The brightness of my yard's lighting has eliminated all dark areas, and I can now see everything clearly with just the right amount of ambience provided by these lights. The majority of my neighbors have bulbs that appear to be identical to these - Identical heavy-duty appearance, bulb spacing, and Edison-style bulbs I also ordered a Kasa outdoor smart switch, so these lights will turn on and off according to the schedule I create (off at sunrise, on at sunset). Evenings on the patio have never looked so good.
My husband was able to easily and quickly install these lights. The hooks were made out of Command hooks and gorilla glue. They look incredible and add a lot of wow factor to our pool and patio area at night. We also installed two café-style tables beneath our overhang, which has turned into a fantastic nighttime spot to enjoy our brand new pool and enclosure. You will not be dissatisfied with your purchase.
Because each string consumes 140 watts, a two-picture box set consumes 280 watts. The other market variants use 20W per string, so be aware that these are power hogs because they are incandescent/filament light bulbs, not low-power LEDs like those sold at Costco. I say all of this because they get hot, so don't put them in a tree or on your fence; the long-term heat will kill or rot them, and if they don't free hang, they will cause a fire hazard. FYI.
These are extremely durable. I've only used one 25-foot cord in the photos, but the bulb size is great, and the bulbs don't appear to be as delicate as others I've tried.
They remain one of my favorites! If I had a ten-star rating, I would give them to them. br>br>These lights are fantastic! As you can see in the first photo, our back porch used to be completely dark. We'll be able to enjoy it until the wee hours of the morning! These are tough lights that will last a long time, but they don't come with any mounting hardware. I screwed in small hooks from Lowe's. It is very simple to set up. They provide just the right amount of light for our requirements. That's exactly what I needed!.
These only have 16 bulbs per 48 feet, rather than the industry standard of 24, and while they look nice, the distance between bulbs is too great.
These are fantastic lights, and the price for two strands is well worth it. Cording is of commercial quality and is quite substantial. One set is strung on the backside of my house's eaves, and it looks fantastic. Keep in mind that there is a significant amount of space between each light. Wait until the cords are strung before adding the bulbs. The extra bulb was still required to replace one that had failed, so everything worked out perfectly. My installation difficulty was due to the house, rather than the product; most people should not have this problem. In general, these strands and bulbs represent a good value.
It was well worth the money, and it was a fantastic deal. I read a few reviews where people said they bought these, set them up, and then discovered they didn't work. I thought I'd screwed the bulbs in tight enough, but when I tried to turn them on, they didn't turn on either. I went ahead and tightened the screws even more, and they eventually came on and worked perfectly, as they had since they arrived. So far this Spring in the Pacific Northwest, it's been rain, hail, wind, and sun. They've held up well and look lovely in our backyard, with warm lighting that creates a pleasant atmosphere. If the bulbs don't turn on the first time, tighten them up a little more than you think they should. Heavy duty extension cord-like feel, with weight. This was a fantastic purchase that was well worth the money. The only thing I wish it had was a remote or a switch to turn it on and off without constantly plugging and unplugging the cord.
