The design of the United States Stove was a flop. My house was on the verge of being completely destroyed by fire. With 30 lbs of fuel in the hopper, fire broke out, and I arrived home just in time to empty the black smoking pellets from the back. It was also working as intended. And it's not going to be fixed by customer service.
In the space of a year, I've gone through two stoves. The first one had a slew of issues. It only lasted a week before it abruptly stopped working. Their customer service is pleasant, but they do not appear to care. They made me completely rebuild my first stove by sending me all of the replaceable parts one by one until they decided it was a lemon. They eventually agreed to replace the stove, but it took three months for them to do so. The replacement stove performed admirably for two months before the auger failed. I only got the parts to fix it today. I'm amazed at how poor the quality of these American-made stoves is.
This is my experience with a different model from US Stove that I recently purchased: When we got there, the control panel was dead. They sent you a replacement panel, but you must install it. After two weeks of service, the unit began to smoke from every nook and cranny (except the back - which was unaffected). out of every nook and cranny) I was fortunate to be at home at the time, but this should not have happened. To extinguish the smolder, I had to pour water into the firebox. The stove was broken and didn't work at all. The firm was willing to pay $30 per hour - Yes, you read correctly - THIRTY - I'm going to have to hire someone to take a look at it. As you might expect, I'm having trouble getting anyone to call me back at $30/hour. The company will not accept it back and will not assist in any other way. In my house, I have a $2,000 piece of useless metal. This appears to be how US Stove conducts business - Before purchasing, conduct additional research on the COMPANY (not just the stove).
