Questions & Answers

Is it possible to stoke the stove by hand if the power goes out?

I put mine to the test with my Goal Zero 1400 solar generator, and it worked perfectly; the only thing that consumes power is the fan. You can connect it to a UPS so that it switches over automatically when the power goes out, but if you have a generator, the stove is sealed with air intake and output so that smoke does not fill your home. You can still run if the power goes out because you have a generator (sine wave).

What's the best way to keep it clean?

When the stove is cool, I vacuum the ashes out and use a wet or damp cloth to clean the window. However, I haven't been able to use my stove because the door handle broke after only two years, and they want $200 to replace it. For a new one, it'll set you back $00!

Is it necessary to turn off the stove in order to clean the burn pot?

You can't clean a flaming pot full of pellets that are actively burning.

What are the wattage requirements for this?

Starting at 450 watts, the power drops to 55 watts. 75 watts. Fans use 55 watts, which increases to 75 watts when pellets are fed, then returns to 55 watts.

Update - It Was Well Worth The Low Price
5/5

br>br>Now that I've had it for a year, I'd like to give it another review. br>br>This stove works great after adjusting the exhaust blower speeds and air inlet restriction. Although the hopper size is a flaw, this stove performs admirably for the price. I also discovered that the machine's weight was not evenly distributed across all four feet, which caused the occasional "expansion" noises. The only sound is the clinking of the pellets as they come down the shoot after I adjusted them to be about even. br>br>To figure out the best combination of adjustments based on altitude, pipe length, and pellet quality, you'll need to factor in a time period. It's basically "set it and forget it" once you've done that. Most of the time, I keep it on the 2 setting, which keeps my 2200 sq. ft. ft. tri- It's plenty warm in this house because it's on a level. My original review from last year, when I first got the stove, is below this sentence.
- br>br>I have to say, for a $1,000 pellet stove, this thing did not let me down at all. I received exactly what I paid for, and I was aware of this when I purchased it. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that the manufacturer could easily improve it with minimal cost impact by changing just a few things, and it would be a fantastic deal. br>br>First and foremost, the shipping was excellent, and the package arrived in good condition. I did, however, need to go over everything again. Tighten all of the external screws on the device. Let's get this out there, too: br>br> Some people are irritated by the nit-picking. I'm the pickiest person in the world when it comes to certain things. Yes, due to thermal cycling, this stove occasionally makes a few noises. EVERY stove has this capability. When metal heats up, it expands, and the joints are made to "give" a little. If you are type A, have high anxiety, and are easily agitated, you will not enjoy this or any other wood stove once it has reached thermal equilibrium. In terms of overall noise, this stove is no louder than any other, including Harmon's. br>br>On a single 40-pound battery, this unit will last only 18 hours. If it's set to the lowest setting, you'll need a bag of pellets. It'll eat that bag in 12 minutes if you're on number 3 of 5. The hopper was only designed to hold 40 pounds, so it took 13 hours. This stove will need to be fed at least twice a day due to the amount of pellets used. Again, I was aware of this prior to purchasing it, so there are no docking points. It burns soft and hard wood pellets equally well. br>br> If opening the inlet gate (on the inside of the stove) does not work, you may need to adjust the exhaust fan voltage. It takes a little practice to get this stove tuned up, but once you do, it burns extremely well and cleanly. TO DO THAT CORRECTLY, YOU WILL NEED TO BE PATIENT. It's a waiting game, and you'll have to adjust in small steps. br>br>Its strong suit is cleaning. Cleaning it takes only 2 minutes and is as simple as it gets. br>br>The blower on this model is a little noisy, but not excessively so when compared to other brands. It performs admirably and has complete speed control. br>br>If the manufacturer would just increase the size by a few inches and make it capable of holding 50 pounds. It would be much easier to load if there were more pellets. Currently, you must throw a partial bag in to keep things running when more fuel is required. Also, instead of using phillips head screws to clean the blower once a month during continuous use, they should use another type of fastener. Once the threads have worn out, these will need to be oversized. Finally, the hopper's lid must be opened wider. It's barely big enough to dump the bag in, and moving even slightly towards the front spills pellets on top and causes dust to fall down the vent holes. When you're in a hurry, it's a pain. br>br>However, the price of this stove is well worth it. This isn't the stove for you if you want a high-end, long-lasting stove. It is, however, a high-quality stove from which I anticipate a rating of 8 out of 10. With only the tiniest of annoyances, the company has been in operation for ten years.

It's dependable, but it's missing a feature you might expect (updated review)
3/5

This is a revised version of the previous review. This stove was purchased on Amazon and has been in my possession for about a year. 5 years. Overall, it's a good stove, but it does have some flaws that you should be aware of before buying. PROS: br>br> • Reliable. br>br> So far, the stove has been trouble-free, and it appears to be well-built; however, the pellets do not always auto-start. ignite quickly enough, filling the stove with smoke, and then "burst" a little when the pellets do ignite, letting some smoke out into the room • Simple to maintain. br>br> I like that there isn't any faux stone backing to take off or any tight spots to vacuum. • Attractive, especially when the glass is clean and a nice fire is glowing inside. br>br>• Built-in thermostat, so you don't need a separate thermostat on the wall with a wire running to the unit. br>br> CONS: br>br> • Small hopper (br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> I'm aware that it's a 40-minute drive. lb hopper, but it's so small that you have to wait until it's almost empty before adding another whole bag (assuming you don't want any leftovers). (We've got a lot of extras in the bag. ) • Pellets stop feeding into the auger too soon. br>br> Pellets stop feeding into the hopper when there are several pounds of pellets left in the hopper due to the shape of the hopper. Because the hopper can only hold about 40 pounds of pellets, you'll have to refill it before you can empty a bag. • Loud fans br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> The unit makes a lot of noise when it starts up and especially when it shuts down. When you turn it off, the fan spins up to full speed, presumably to keep the unit cool. This could take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. It will take 20 minutes. It runs quietly at its lowest fan setting, but becomes louder at higher fan settings. • When you're running, the backlight is always on. The very bright blue backlight is always on when the stove is turned on and running. If the user presses a button, it should turn back on after a minute or so. • NO ON/OFF CONTROL BASED ON TEMPERATURE. br>br> This is the heater's main flaw in my opinion. br>br>CONCLUSIONbr>br>According to the unit's description, it has a thermostat operation control method. Although this is technically correct, it does not function in the way you might expect. Whether the room is warmer than the temperature you've set or not, if you run the unit in thermostat mode, it will automatically turn on. The fan settings gradually decrease as the heater warms the room and approaches the temperature you've set, but the unit never turns off. br>br>Example A) Your room is 70 degrees, but your thermostat is set to 65 degrees. The stove will go into ignite mode and begin heating the room on the lowest fan setting, and it will not turn off until you manually switch it off. Even on the lowest setting, this heater can raise the temperature to the mid-90s in our house. br>br>Example B) Your room is 60 degrees, and your thermostat is set to 65 degrees. The same thing happens as before, except the fans will be set to a higher speed at first to help you reach your desired temperature more quickly. But then it does the same thing: it switches to low and continues to run until you manually turn it off. br>br>Temperature-controlled on/off is available on even $20 electric room heaters. It was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT to discover this. Despite the fact that it is a good stove, I would not have bought it if I had known that a stove with advanced LED controls, a built-in thermostat, and programmable scheduling would be missing the simple feature of turning itself on and off based on a user-defined schedule. temperature that has been set We have to fiddle with it on a regular basis because it lacks this feature. Turn it on and off if it's too hot or too cold. A temperature-controlled space heater serves as the primary source of heat in our home. The based on/off feature is sadly lacking. It would probably not be a big deal in a garage or workshop. Additionally, you can turn the unit on and off manually. br>br> You can manually turn it on and set a timer for it to turn off in 1-hour increments. hr intervals (15-hr intervals) or even 30 years old It would be much nicer if you could do it in minute increments). You can also program up to four predetermined on/off times per day using the weekly schedule feature. This works fine, but because the weather in this area is so unpredictable, we never seem to be able to get it just right. We mostly use the manual on/off switch, with the timer shut-off thrown in for good measure. Before going to bed, turn it off. br>br>BOTTOM LINEbr>br>If you want a heater that turns on and off on its own based on a temperature that you can set, this is the heater for you. This is a heater you should not buy. If that feature isn't important to you, this is a great stove at a great price; it's not the quietest or most convenient, but it keeps our house warm, is dependable, and has a good overall value.

Because the stove is fantastic for those 15 minutes! I'm not sure what's wrong with this stove; it only runs for about 15 minutes before an alarm sounds, indicating that the hopper is empty or that the burn pot should be checked
3/5

My burn pot is empty and my hopper is full. I can't seem to find a way to contact the seller to begin resolving this issue, so I'm hoping this review will garner some attention and allow me to edit my review! Because the stove is fantastic for those 15 minutes!.
