Preston Fireplace Screen

I bought this fireplace screen to act as a pet gate for her. Due to the weight of the fireplace screen, she will not be able to squeeze through it or crawl under it. In order to prevent the door from falling and damaging the interior, clips were installed on either side. You should not harm any kitty. It does not have feet that support it. In a few places, the paint was too light and rusted had started to become apparent. In the end, we did not need it for anything more than to remind our dog to keep his distance from the fire and for his toys to stay away from it. This product has met all of our expectations!.

It was originally purchased because my cats managed to push the mesh screen over my fireplace out of the way, even though there is a mesh screen over it. One of my cats has both been caught inside the fireplace while it was on at least twice! It was as if I turned my back for a second, and there she would be, inside! I was freaking out that A gate like this one is an excellent way to keep her at bay. The fireplace looks great with it as well. It's also a gate I use to keep the cats out of other places even when I'm not using the fireplace in the summer. I wanted my cats to stay upstairs but not cooped up in a single room when I was painting my kitchen. Whenever I order something like this online without seeing it in person, I get nervous. There is no better fireplace screen out there! Packaged well, it fits my fireplace perfectly, and has a nice mix between decorative character and too much ornamentation that I'd become a bit tired of after a while. The fireplace and room have been enhanced greatly by it. That would have been much more useful had I purchased it.

It was an open box purchase for me, so I had to deal with it This is a new, good condition item that was purchased It has never caused any issues for me to purchase items from an open box. When we took it out of the box, one of the rotating collar welds on the upper hinge was broken. Sadly, we were not able to return it because we needed it for a holiday party (fire for ambiance) the same weekend, so we'll use steel-made grills instead. You need a piece of putty to repair or replace the broken hinge. We'll find a way. It's kind of a bummer, but we'll do it. In the beginning, it didn't look like the weld was extremely solid, and when the unit was returned, no one hinted at the fact that it had been broken. This is the way things are. My boyfriend is slightly concerned about the height of the gap at the lower edge of the screen because it provides the possibility for an ember, coal, or ash to break through and hit the rug or hardwood flooring. So far, we haven't seen anything like that happen, but it does seem like the gap is quite wide. The clean lines of the design do really appeal to me and I'm glad we have it now.

So a good thing is it looks nice. The bad thing is the hinges are pretty cheap and the welds are not as strong as they should be. A broken hinge was on the first one when I got it, probably from shipping, but the second one worked perfectly. My floor is very slick and I am sure that with a hard fall or two the hinge could very well break. While the quality is good, I have doubts about the durability. Maybe you should look for another item if you have kids or pets likely to knock it over. In any case, grab it while you can!.
