For a small size door, the measurements are as follows The dimensions of this table are 37 1/2" wide by 28" high (30" high with the 2" riser bar attached). For the medium size door, the overall dimensions are as follows A 37 1/2" wide by 31" tall bench (33" high if you attach the 2" riser bar) is required. There is no way to turn off the fire if the doors are locked.
It is a bad idea to close the doors if there is a fire. In order to keep heated or cooled air from escaping up the chimney, these doors are installed. In front of the glass doors, there is a nice set of wire mesh doors. Since these mesh doors are open when there is a fire, the heat of that fire can get through them. It is my intention to purchase these doors to conserve heat and to keep the smell of the after-use products from staying in what it is supposed to do! It is very easy to put together. Although the top beam of my fireplace is much wider than the two brackets given, I still need to mount it. Despite my dissatisfaction with the alternative provided, the instructions made an attempt to give me a choice. Thus, I came up with a better solution by extending the brackets to mount the unit with a flat bracket between them. This is a simple problem to solve.
