Specifically, the doors designed for masonry fireplaces mount to the steel lintel above the opening in the wall. In a prefab unit, this part will not be available. The common construction of "prefab" units is composed of an inner and outer shell made of stainless steel lined with insulation, resulting in dimensionally dissimilar pieces.

My order was the wrong size and I ended up paying $26.

I adapted it to my own needs and it works great
4/5

I have an old house so there were some issues that may have been a result of that. However, the finished product is beautiful. In order to attach to the top of the firebox, I used tapcon screws. Since my house is a 1935, I did not have a lentel, which is needed when attaching a roof. There are supposed to be self-tapping screws to drill in, as per the instructions. did not match those on the spec sheet, so I had to purchase my own and B) for fun, I used my impact driver with my own self-tapping screws into brick and it didn't work at all. We got some 1 inch tapcons and drilled pilot holes in the brick with a hammer drill. We are successful. In general, I don't find the company to be frustrating, as it's a great design overall. The old house just needed a little extra, but that's what I'm used to. I would like to close with a quick I have a fireplace that is exactly 30" wide and it fits perfectly. It has now been squashed as a bug.

It is impossible to have a fire with closed glass doors
3/5

It looks to be a well-built model. However, they do not make those fireplaces sit flush on the brick, so if your fireplace is smaller than the smallest size then you will not be able to use it. As the doors are required to swing out of the fireplace opening, they will not be able to be opened. Eventually, I intend to customize it so that it will It is not permitted to have a fire with the glass doors closed as well after reading the instructions. Increasing the temperature of the glass makes it more likely for it to I am not happy with it, but for the time being it will do. While there is a fire going, it would be nice to have the glass doors closed.

The product is well made and looks great
4/5

There are a few issues with the product but overall it's a nice product. We had the expensive custom enclosures installed in our fireplace instead of using a 'quick-fix' system that works as well. The comments on the other reviews are mostly correct. Not enough insulation is provided with the product. One more insulation pack would be perfect to eliminate this issue. If you split the precut sections, you get 1/2 of what is needed. This is a small enclosure that I ordered. The code works with openings that have a 22 pixel width. There are five days in a week. It is a 5 on the scale. In the event that your opening is smaller than 24", let us know. Installation is tricky and directions are not as clear as they should be. Although it fit, it was a bit tight. It was 24" wide and 24" long. If it had been any lower, there would have been a problem. Aside from those two issues, I found the product to be easy to install. I took about 45 minutes to install it. I think we made the right decision with the enclosure we chose. The design looks great, but the fit is so tight that it would have earned a 5. My fireplace is made of cinder blocks, so I would recommend this product for fireplaces with cinder blocks that are 24" or larger.

I love the glass door on this fireplace, it's very classy
5/5

Excellent value for the money. Thank you for this! I am glad I found it! Earlier this year, we refinished the tiles on our fireplace from the 1940s. A 12" shiny tile was laid over the original tile, so we removed it and replaced it with an off-white floor tile On the hearth, I found the original tiling as well as the white and aged subway tiles. Before this one, I tried another screen style, but it did not It is however perfect here since it sits flush against the tile next to the Despite the doors opening in an accordion fashion, you can see the fire glowing in the background. As long as the closed screen is maintained, the embers will not come to the surface of the glass. There is a great deal of heat coming from the fireplace. By having this flush feature on the tile surface, we found that the room really heated up. We had previously installed a fireplace door that sat about 2 inches from the tile and had a hanging screen and glass doors. While all that was going on, the heat was kept A much more efficient way to do things. I was also pleased to see that I was able to assemble it easily! Even if you don't have a degree in physics, you can still do it if you lay everything out and study the instructions and diagram! How well it is constructed and how well the insulation is done, I am impressed. Is just the right size for the slots. You need to be patient, Anyway, I'm very pleased with the way the overall design came out. In any case, the way it works now functions like an insert, so it's like having an insert. This cold, cold winter has me in a good mood. There is only one downside the screen needs to be opened carefully. It is really hot when the little knobs are adjusting, so if you expect that and don't hold onto the knob while adjusting, you will not gripe that it was created imperfectly. Version 2 is what I would call it. For the screen door, the only thing that needs to be done is to install a hardier or alternative hardware.

Custom built look is perfect with this product
5/5

Fireplace trim of this quality is very impressive to me. There is nothing else to assemble other than attaching the handles, so I really like that it comes with almost no assembly required. As the fireplace was being remodeled and modified, I altered the supplied installation hardware to meet my requirements, bolting the unit in with masonry screws rather than thumb screws, and running the stacked stone trim right up to the edge of the outside trim to give the fireplace a truly custom feel. My recommendation of this company's fireplace kits would definitely be a strong one.

Fire place challenges around the corner
3/5

It should be stated in the manual to watch the YouTube video Install before continuing. Furthermore, this should darken the line in the middle of the panel for you to be able to install the grabber either upward or downward, depending on the reach of your Instead it simply shows one down and one up in pictures, so if you don't carefully study that line, you may end up with the wrong install as you hold the heavy door while your head is under the chimney. In that case, since I have a raised corner fireplace, I only have the option of installing the lintel in two places. It’s only a half of the total of four positions available, so it’s a weak statement. Furthermore, there is a metal sheath above my lintel and the opening flue has a slant cone shape collecting Soot. The load is not able to be distributed evenly at 90 degrees through the lintel because it is slanted. Using a drill, I will drill holes into the metal cone so the hand screw will not slip out while it is tightened. We also have to order tempered glass for the other side of the tablet. It's not an easy task to.
