Fantastic quality and price. A disclaimer follows. The black finish did not appeal to me, so I sanded the screen down to give it an aged pewter appearance. In the photo you can see the sanded finish, not the original. A good piece of equipment for those who have young children. It is large, heavy, and it provides a safety benefit. In our case, we installed the screen without the back feet so that it could be placed right next to the fireplace, then we used 3M Velcro strips to hold the magnets in place because the only place for the screen to sit flush is on the backside of the magnets. On the bottom magnet, the Velcro strips were stuck together to make sure the bottom magnet was flush, but the top magnet only needed one. Compared to other products, it is a much better value due to its weight and quality. At half the price or less, it is a lot better value!.

It's so lovely how this fireplace screen is designed with scrolls! This product features adjustable feet on the back side, which can be adjusted to fit many different fireplace openings. I did not know this was a possibility until I saw the product. It's easy to adjust to your size! In addition, I would be remiss if I missed to mention that I was very impressed with the companies' customer service. When I first got the two screens (one of the doors was completely detached) they had been damaged in shipping. Each time it was a pleasure working with them. The unit is heavy-duty, pretty, and has an easy assembly process. In addition to measuring the opening of my fireplace, I did not measure the depth of the hearth or the distance to the fireplace mantel. I could not fit this screen under the mantle since it was too large. The legs will not fit inside a fireplace that has a frame around it. There must not be a metal frame surrounding the fireplace for this method to work. A result of the front legs being in the way is that the doors will only open halfway. You cannot light gas logs and turnkey at the same time if the doors are not fully opened. For example, if you have gas logs and want to open the doors to light them, you will not be able to reach the logs and turnkey. In this situation, your only choice is to pick up and remove the screen while you light the logs, and set it back to the hearth afterward. If that is the case, why do we have doors at all? A wood-frame screen of this type looks best if it's open An open fireplace with a burning fire. In all honesty, it's a lovely fireplace regardless, but a single panel would work too for a more traditional design.

This appears to be what I was looking for. It is a predicament to be I made sure that the screen in this fantastic fireplace was wider and taller than the opening, and I did not include the screen's rear legs. I installed it above the fireplace opening where the fire burns, a place where the fire is raised higher than the hearth. Using the front legs of the screen, the firescreen is kept from falling forward, while the back of the screen rests against the fireplace frame. It may be necessary to bolt the screen to the fireplace in the future or to find other ways of fastening it. As it stands, it looks steady enough for use as is with about an inch overlap of screen over the fireplace frame on both sides and several inches at the top. It is possible for even the best oak firewood to pop (I almost exclusively burn oak wood). After I tested the screen with a fire, while the mesh screen did pop a little, nothing penetrated it. The rounded top of the screen looks okay resting against the metal of the fireplace (which is the same color as the screen). I would have preferred a screen with more square features to tie it in better with my fireplace, but even with its rounded top, the screen looks okay. A Philips head screw driver was all I needed to put together the screen, and it took me about five minutes to assemble. I was very pleased when I considered how little money was spent on this screen compared to what others cost.

Why did I not do it earlier? The screen arrived on Friday after I ordered it on Thursday! It is man. It's amazing to see how things have changed. Despite the fact that our fireplace is gas, it has a pilot light that is operated by a knob on its lower left corner (inside the fireplace The trifold steel screen we used prior to this was heavy and difficult to open & close As I wanted to light the fireplace, I would lean over the screen and turn the knob. The screen was awkward and extended a foot and a half outward. The screen would have to be moved away from the fireplace by the wife since I cannot reach it. With the new screen you don't have to use the rear legs (the door makes it super easy and the screen sits flush against the outside of the hearth) Turn on the lights when safe to do so. Some of the screens on this site can be purchased at a higher price, but why would you do that? I love it!.

The screen on our flimsy, eight year old computer broke suddenly, and we purchased this on impulse. What a great idea! Depending on whether your fireplace is wider or smaller (ours was wider), you can adjust the bottom. I like that it is magnetized, so it's very easy to open and close. The room has a very clean and mature appearance, so it would be perfect for anyone with children or pets who loves to have a fire at night.

Even though it's not yet assembled, it's full of problems as it's fresh out of the box. However, I noticed immediately that there is already a ding in the top of the frame and there is a little paint chipping on one corner, and I just removed the plastic that covered it. (The box was in perfect condition and not damaged. most annoying part is that after reading these reviews and complaints, I still received a card (attached directly to the film) promising a 10 percent discount if I gave it five As an Amazon employee, this seemed tacky and contrary to the company's policy. Your product should stand on its own, don't you think? I am disgusted. The thing is, even though what I really want is to exchange it for one that is not damaged, they have already raised their price since I bought it last week, so my refund wouldn't cover the additional costs.
