In this design, there is a lack of engineering

The one I have in my fire pit is one of these. Zinc and brass are contacting each other in this design for an outdoor part. I don't understand why this design was created this way. When the valve is wet or humid, it quickly corrodes, preventing its operation. It would be great if the zinc could be replaced with brass or if the assembly was made A 1 or a 2 If outdoors, the year-life part will work as intended.
