I have mine in an outdoor fire pit so I'm not sure how much it is in the back, but it is 30 inches long and tapering down to 25 1/2 inches, thanks!

I was exactly looking for this! As described, the item arrived as expected.
Lots of logs can be held in it! We are talking about logs that are 24 inches in diameter.
I have a fireplace grate. A fireplace grate made the difference this does in my life in a way I would have never imagined. This is effective when burning wood and coal because it allows more air to move through the fire. Ash will simply fall through the grate when those materials become ash.
Designed to withstand the test of time. We have had large fires on this and no issues have been reported.
It fits well in an opening of this size.
I can only think of one thing that reminds me of what our grate looks like 60s days old.
