It gets five stars because it does an excellent job of protecting the lens from stray light for its intended purpose. protect the camera from hitting objects), but it effectively eliminates the use of any filters in front of the lens. This lens shade has UV, polarizer, ND, and other filters, so it'll suffice if all you need is a camera lens shade.
For my V770, I needed a hood, and this was the only one that didn't appear to be too flimsy. It's constructed as well as a plastic lens hood can be constructed, and it serves its purpose. It appears that the locking/unlocking mechanism is hit-or-miss. The price appears to be a little high for what you get, but most OEM accessories are.
It's a nice hood, but you shouldn't use it with a slim filter. If you want to protect the lens with a filter, use a thick normal filter in conjunction so it can lock securely. The hood will rotate if a slim filter is used. The hood will be securely tightened by a thick filter!.

Hood mounts and functions properly; however, it lacks sufficient thread depth to secure the hood, making it easily dislodgeable. It's not a major issue; simply handle it with caution.
