Questions & Answers

I just bought this model and am hoping it's worth the money; is it normal for this fan to flutter near the base?

Hello, in my opinion, that noise should not be present. However, be aware that I used mine for a while before it suddenly stopped working. I tried it in different rooms to make sure it wasn't my electrical plugs, but it was still not working, so I just put it away.

What is the degree of oscillation?

I believe its maximum oscillation is around 75 degrees.

When it shifts direction at the end of its rotational sweep, does it "chatter and shake"?

There hasn't been any rattling or shaking that I've noticed. It's extremely quiet.

Good airflow, remote suckers, and relatively quiet at top speed
4/5

After returning the Vornado 184 (which had a whine that literally hurt my ears), I purchased the OSCR37. br>br>It has a lot of air flow for a small fan. A pleasant breeze could be felt from 10 feet away, even with the fan speed set to 1. It's not loud at fan speed 4, but there's a hum around 3kHz and 4kHz. It is noticeable, but not to the point of being uncomfortable. br>br>It appears that the circulatory claims are valid. The fan was set to oscillate and then to stand still; surprisingly, the standing position (circulation) felt cooler. br>br>The fan's noise level (measured from a distance of 10 feet) isn't too bad: br>1st fan - br>50 dBbr>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>b fan 3 - 53dBbr> - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This fan is OK for people who are sensitive to high pitch sound (measured from 10 feet away): 60dBbr>br>60dBbr>br>60dBbr>br>60dBbr>br>60dBbr>br>60dBbr>br>60dBbr>b br>1st fan - On the high frequencies, there was almost no change. br>fan 2 - The frequency between 1 and 2 kHz begins to rise. The most significant change occurred in the 1kHz to 1kHz frequency range. fan 3 - 5kHz rangebr> The increase in frequency from 1kHz to 4kHz. In comparison to 1kHz to 2kHz, 3kHz to 4kHz is a small frequency range. br>fan 4 - Surprisingly, the dB for the high frequencies barely increased. br>br>I did a spectrogram, not much to say about it except that the density was a nice gradient as the fan increased. This means that if people want to use the fan to create white noise, it'll work well. It was less dense than the 184 at the highest speed, resulting in a sound with fewer high frequencies. br>br>The remote is a nightmare. The buttons work well, but the infrared range is poor. The remote must align with the top of the fan (where the IR sensor is located) in order for the fan to detect a button press. br>br>The oscillation motion is very smooth. I did notice that the time spent on the left (two seconds) was significantly less than the time spent on the right (three seconds). br>br>In general, this is an excellent fan. It would be better if Vornado could reduce the high frequency shift in the 3kHz to 4kHz range. br>br>Listen to all of the attached plots to hear how the fan sounds.

The support/warranty sealed the deal, though it wasn't perfect
5/5

This was my third purchase of a "tower" fan. The other two were highly rated, but they either made too much noise or had a buggy/directional remote. On the low setting, this one is extremely quiet and moves enough air to keep the room comfortable. If you want a more powerful breeze, the other two higher settings really push air, but they're quite noisy. To be honest, every single one of these tower fans is either silent or extremely noisy. sluggish or adequate, as well as noisy The price of this Vornado was higher than the others, but the long warranty and excellent customer service sealed the deal. If it begins to rattle or break, real people will answer the phone, and return shipping is free. Who knows how much packing might cost? One of these should be sent. Finally, compared to the other models I tried, which were around 40" tall, this 32" model is a nice, unobtrusive size. Oh. The remote also doesn't "beep," which some people find irritating.

The fan is nice overall - it works well overall, but there are a few issues
3/5

It does a good job of air circulation. It's very quiet, and the timer and oscillation functions are excellent. It was simple to put together (just snap the two halves of the base together). attach a screw to the fan's bottom). br>br>My main issue was with the remote, which seemed to work intermittently even at a distance of only a few inches. I'm also afraid of breaking it because it appears to be very cheap and noisy/clicky, as if you're pressing buttons on a children's toy remote. (It got a little better after I changed the battery - up to an 8' range - However, the power button is abnormally sensitive when compared to the other buttons on the actual fan. )br>br>Secondarily, the power button is abnormally sensitive when compared to the other buttons on the actual fan. The timer button is finicky as well, and it doesn't always work the first time you press it.

It wasn't at all what I had expected from a Vornado
3/5

I was staying in a place without air conditioning in the summer of 2020, but they did have a Vornado. It saved my life, and I was blown away by how powerful it was! With that in mind, I thought the prices were very reasonable when I looked them up. So I went out and bought the 5303, a "Small Whole Room Air Circulator Fan. " " I adore it, and I bring it with me on all of my trips (not by plane). " br>br>The only things the 5303 lacked that I kept discovering I needed were 1) oscillation and 2) a remote control. I was doing a lot of work where I'd be across the room, completely engulfed in my project and completely overheated. I wished for a remote control that would allow me to benefit from the Vornado's position on the other side of the room, pointing in a different direction, on numerous occasions. Also (3, I believe), it is a bit on the loud side. At the very least, on medium, if not high. I'm not complaining, but a quieter environment would help me hear my TV/stereo/etc. on hot nights when no one else is around. br>br>I looked at a few different models before deciding on this one. I liked the height and figured that if I set it at about hip-height, it would be perfect. When I'm on my feet working, it would hit the majority of the room, particularly my upper body. (I'm aware that you're supposed to put it on the floor. ) But, because I saw this as a security issue rather than a functionality issue, I decided to just make sure it was good and secure and take the risk. )br>br>Extremely simple to put together. VERY quiet. br>br> The noise level is just right for me. (Note: Everyone who thinks it's quiet must have hearing problems, according to one reviewer? Even from her own words, it appears that her unit was defective! especially when she goes on to say something about the mechanical whine, in addition to the fact that she is 20 years old year- Even on the lowest setting, my old fan is quieter than this! If my fan is set to a low or low-medium setting, medium, it's so quiet I'd have no idea it's on. )br>br>The authority is just. okay. It's fine, but this is my third Vornado, and the previous two were SO POWERFUL that I assumed they were all the same. That, I assumed, was what distinguished a Vornado from other storms. This is nothing more than a tall oscillating fan. I've done it on the ground as well as at hip level. I don't even bother with the lower levels because the "high" isn't all that strong! br>br>In addition, the remote sensor is extremely finicky. And I've discovered that if it's mounted at the hip, it doesn't work very well. level. It's crucial to aim the remote at the fan's top. Not only does this kind of thing irritate me, but I'm used to technology where you don't even have to point the remote at the device! My Firestick works regardless of where I aim the remote! Many of the other items I use work in the same way. So it's been a long time since I've used a remote that required such precision in my aim, and it feels a little out of date. br>br>In addition, the remote is teeny-tiny and delicate, and I am terrified of losing or breaking it. I'm hoping it's replaceable (and at a reasonable cost), because I don't think it'll last long. br>br>Anyway, the fan is fine, and the price was reasonable. I guess. It's just that I could have gone out and bought any tall, remote-controlled vehicle. controlled, oscillating fan (for a lot less money, in fact). I chose Vornado because I've come to expect them to be aggressive, and this is exactly what they are. isn't.  .
