Questions & Answers

When it circulates, does it cool the air?

The ionization of air particles may result in a reduction in humidity and, as a result, a decrease in temperature. In my bedroom, I have one on all the time, and it feels like a nice breeze.

What kind of screws will be required to secure the base properly? My unjt didn't have any hardware when it arrived: ?

My package was delivered on June 26th, 2015, but there was no hardware. This morning, I went to OSH to get some screws. It was difficult to come by, and I was able to put it together and get it to work (for the time being) using only two screws. Good price; good appliance, but if it doesn't come with the hardware, it should clearly state so!

Is it true that an ionizer can help with smoking?

I'm not sure about the smoke, but it does help when the dog has gas!

Is it necessary to purchase air purifier filters?

Filters are external add-ons that can be turned on or off as needed. To extend the life of my fan, I purchased a PollenTec Fan Buddy filter. Permanent filter that does not obstruct fan performance and is simple to install and maintain.

A Comparison of the Two Tower Fans from Lasko, Holmes, and Sunter compared side by side
4/5

The Lasko 42" Wind Curve (with ionizer) is an excellent fan that can handle a 20 x 20 foot space. The tall height is ideal for a bedroom where you may want to feel the breeze a little more while lying on a high mattress. You can also raise or lower the top portion of the vent to suit your needs. Also useful in this situation is the remote control. Despite the strong breeze, the Lasko was eerily quiet. The base is solid, and there has been no rattling in my experience. br>br>I compared the Lasko fan to the Holmes 32" Oscillating Tower Fan and found that they were completely different. The Holmes fan was too short to create a breeze above my bed, which was exactly what I needed. The fan's overall power was also very low- especially because it was marketed as a whole-house fan. Holme's strongest breeze was roughly the same as the Lasko's lowest setting. The user interface was difficult to understand. There was no remote control, either. The Holmes base is solid, and there was no rattling during my testing. br>br>I also looked at the Sunter 40" Tower Fan (2 Pack Combo with a 13" Personal Fan) and the Lasko. While I preferred the Lasko's appearance (the silver color allowed it to be used with both dark and light color schemes), the Sunter was the most powerful of the three. Even if it's just a notch higher. The 40" height was still sufficient to reach over the bed, which I required. The vent's top portion cannot be adjusted up or down. and-down, as if it were a Lasko- However, that feature is not available to the majority of fans. The Sunter was quieter than the Lasko, but not quite as quiet. Although the Sunter's remote appears to be chintzier than the Lasko's, it turns out that the Sunter's remote has a longer range than the Lasko's. The Sunter base is solid, and there was no rattling during my testing. I did, however, experience vibration and rattling from the included personal 13" fan. The Lasko was the simplest to put together of the three fans. With its silver finish, I thought the Lasko was the most appealing and adaptable. Both the Lasko and the Sunter have a simple interface, and they are both sturdy and do not rattle. The Lasko has the quietest breeze, followed by the Sunter, which is a close second. The Sunter, on the other hand, had the strongest breeze, with Lasko coming in second. Both of these options were suitable for rooms measuring 20 x 20 feet. There are three speed settings on the Lasko; There are four speed settings on the Sunter. There are timers on both of them. The Lasko has an ionizer, which is nice, but the Sunter has a cool evening breeze feature. (As you drift off to sleep, the evening breeze feature gradually reduces the breeze to the next lowest level. ) VERY nice. )br>br>Finally, the Lasko costs $56 at the time of this review. Amazon has 52 different titles. The Sunter, on the other hand, will set you back $39 Costco charges $99 (or $44) for this item. Amazon lists it at number 32. The Lasko's $16 higher price significantly reduced my star rating for the product, lowering it to a 4-star rating. star. And, because the Sunter is nearly identical (with a bonus fan) at a significantly lower price, I'm giving it a 5-star rating. The Sunter receives a best-buy rating of one star.

True Love Does Exist
5/5

I was concerned after reading some of the reviews, which claimed that putting this bad boy together was a chore. I'm barely able to function as a human being. We're in for an adventure if I have to use a screwdriver. I was able to put this together in under 15 minutes, and I didn't even cry. It's a cinch to assemble. There are a total of four steps in this procedure. Now let's take a look at how well it works. br>br> br>I was born and raised in the state of Louisiana. Not only is the temperature similar to what it must be like in the fiery pits of Hell, but there is also humidity to add to the fun. At 5:45 p. m. , I return home to a house that is about 84 degrees F. It was 30 degrees in the evening, so I needed some assistance in cooling down. Within 5 minutes of turning this thing on, it felt as if an angel had descended from heaven and began to blow cool air directly into my face. My eyes welled up and I was on the verge of crying. This thing will have been worth the money even if it only lasts a month. Also, the light is bright at night, according to some people. It's not a laser beam, but rather a tiny green light about the size of a pen top.

It's meant to be replaced once or twice a year
3/5

This thing is made to keep you from having to clean it and to force you to throw it away and buy a new one every time it gets dirty. br> Screws are made to be difficult to remove unless you have a very strange and unusual special screwdriver. It collects dust in the front and back, and after a while, it begins to spit out greasy dust bunnies all over the place. It can't be cleaned with a vacuum or anything else. They could have made it easier to open or at the very least normalized the screws, but no. It irritates me so much that I will never buy anything from the company again; I despise it when businesses use such tactics.

I would purchase it again
4/5

Before I decided to buy this product, I read a lot of reviews, and they were all fairly accurate. This isn't an air conditioner, by the way. It is a fan, no matter how much you want it to be otherwise. It feels like the air coming out of it is colder at times, and it's the same temperature as the room at other times (much like a fan). What makes it cooler has eluded me so far. br>However, this is far superior to any other fan I've tried. It's bigger, more potent, and did an excellent job of helping me get through the summer in Los Angeles.

The grade for motor hum is a B
3/5

kinda- If you're curious, I live in a flat. I've only had it for a few hours, but the infernal hum is driving me insane. It isn't the fan that is causing the problem. This is white noise, or the motor's hum. It's also a B that isn't in tune. If you're a trained musician, don't buy this; you'll be obsessed with it whenever the fan is turned on. I tried running it for a while to get used to it, but it made me tense up. When I finally turned it off, I felt instantly at ease. Call me crazy, but I'm returning this the next day. I'm finished with it already.

A different brand is being chosen
3/5

I'm married to a very attractive man. to say the least. When the weather in Oklahoma heats up in the spring and summer, it's time to turn on the fans to help move the air around. There is conditioned air all around. Sleeping in the bedroom necessitates the use of a quiet fan. We ordered the Lasko 2551 in the hopes that it would be the one. br>After a few nights, the fan started ticking, ticking, ticking. After contacting Lasko, I was advised to return the fan for replacement. "It shouldn't be doing that," the man said. If the first fan was ticking, ticking, ticking, that would be fine. The replacement Lasko 2551 made a tin can sound like it was being chewed up by a garbage disposal. Yikes! (As a side note, the box was in perfect condition with no signs of wear or damage. )br>So, who's fan number three? Let's just say Honeywell was our first choice.

After one month of use, it began to make a noise
3/5

The fan started making an obnoxious clicking noise, similar to that of a small revolving blade with a plastic bit clicking over it, or a loosely connected blade. I tightened the screws again, but the noise is still there. I'm a few days past the deadline! It is not something I would advise you to do. On a hot San Francisco day, it arrived on time with the box in perfect condition. It took ten minutes to set up. This is ideal for my hot, south-facing office, and I agree with others that it feels cooler than simply circulated air. I was planning on purchasing a window air conditioner, but if I can avoid using air conditioning, I'd rather use an a la natural fan.
