Yes, this fan will keep you cool in any weather. The plastic is UV-rated, and the fan was designed to withstand water.
An air conditioner isn't the same as a "fan." Wind is accelerated by a fan, which can also direct it. So, if the ambient air temperature is warm or hot, the air being blown/accelerated will also be warm or hot. An "air conditioner" can actually cool the surrounding air before blowing it into a room or space with the help of a fan. So, how does a simple fan make someone feel cooler? The cooling effect is the result of physics as well as our own biology. Cool huh? br>In order to maintain a constant core temperature, our bodies self-regulate it. When the ambient temperature is warm or hot, our bodies do a variety of biological things to help us cool down and feel more at ease. Sweating is the most common method used by our bodies. Even if we aren't aware of it, we sweat/perspire frequently. When the ambient air temperature is high, we begin to feel perspiration as sweat accumulates on our skin, making us feel sticky, moist, wet, and/or warm, which is often uncomfortable. We tend to feel more comfortable on a hot or humid day when the wind is stronger. This is due to the fact that when the wind comes into contact with our skin, our sweat/water evaporates into the air, and the moving wind blows that sweat/water away from our skin. Because sweat evaporates, it carries heat from our bodies into the air, making us feel cooler. More air is available to pick up more water/sweat from our skin when there is a greater/stronger air flow. br>This is how a "fan" can assist us in staying cool. A fan accelerates the air in the room, similar to how nature can accelerate the wind outside, picking up sweat/water from our skin and carrying some heat away with it, making us feel cooler. And, as our bodies continue to regulate our overall core body temperature, that cooler feeling actually helps us lower our body temperatures. That is all there is to it. Physics and biology are two subjects that I am interested in. Cool huh?
The fan's vent is at the top, so it won't help you under the table. It's a fantastic fan, and when it's turned on, I don't have any issues with bugs.
The top open section of this fan is the only one that blows air. It oscillates and performs admirably.

Our covered porch, open porch, and garage are the only rooms in our house that don't have ceiling fans. We considered installing a ceiling fan on our covered porch, but decided it wasn't worth the hassle when this Lasko YF202 fan appeared to be capable of doing the same job, as well as being easily movable to the other porch or garage when needed. (For this purpose, a handy handle is built into the top. ) )br>br>This fan is a little taller, about twice as wide, and a little noisier than some Sharper Image tower fans we used to have - Even at its slowest speed, it moves a lot of air. It does not have a remote control, but it is simple to operate using the front panel of simple electronics. One button turns the fan on and off, another toggles through the four speeds, and a third button turns moving vanes to direct airflow on and off (rather than the entire fan oscillating side to side). This fan appears to have a sibling fan (Model YF200) that includes Bluetooth, so anyone looking for remote control should look for that model. br>br>To remove all of the packaging during the initial assembly, all you need is a knife or scissors. The base snaps into place with ease. The power cord is ten feet long and has a built-in ground fault interruptor near the plug. Unfortunately, the plug is TOO CLOSE for an outdoor outlet cover to be easily closed. To get around this, I had to purchase an Amazon one-foot grounded extension cord. br>br>When used at low speeds, the fan is very relaxing. On its lowest setting, the fan is audible but not bothersome, and it easily delivers ample airflow to all of our outdoor chairs. Our refrigerator is roughly the same size. (My Apple watch says it's 57 decibels at a one-foot distance. ) ) At maximum speed, it moves a LOT of air and makes a loud but consistent fan noise (91 decibels at one foot, according to the watch. ) )br>br>The true test will be leaving it outside during the rainy season this winter, as our home is too small for it to take up space indoors when it is needed. It appears to be long-lasting so far.
Only half of the tower has vents that allow air to escape. br>NOT an oscillator around the base. Internal oscillation is the only thing that is going on. You don't get a breeze unless you're right in front of the tower. br>Now I just need to figure out how to remove the base and return it. br>I'm not pleased.
I'm happy with this fan in general. There are, however, a few things that the buyer should be aware of. br>There is no way to control the television with a remote. br>The controls are so low on the fan's body that you have to bend down to turn it on or off, let alone change the settings. Why not put it on top, like every other vertical fan I've seen? br>Even on the lowest setting, it's a little too powerful, but that could be due to the fact that it's intended for outdoor use. br>When you turn it on, your head is now directly in front of the fan opening, so you're hit in the face right away. br>All of the air comes out of a small 10 inch or so opening near the top of the fan, rather than the entire fan, resulting in a fairly strong wind, as previously mentioned. br> However, it appears to be well-made and operates quietly.
This is a lovely fan: It's visually appealing, weatherproof, and moves a lot of air quietly. However, I required greater control over the direction of travel. The vents on the inside move left and right, but only about 30 degrees of coverage. Despite the fact that my wife and I were only 3 feet apart, only one of us received a breeze. As a result, I had to give the fan back to the store.
When we got it and put it together (which was very easy), I was ecstatic. It quickly cooled everything down, and I loved the different fan speeds. But there was no remote, and the only thing that moved was a tiny spot about 6 inches long by 4 inches wide, which you wouldn't notice if you stood to the side. I needed an oscillating fan.
A lot of air is blown by the fan. is quiet! It's for my gazebo, which I bought it for. The fan can be felt from 10 feet away, across the room.
So far, everything is going swimmingly! br>br>We've used it a few times now, and it's held up well to a few rainstorms. . . so far, so good! br>br>We recently expanded our deck, purchased new patio furniture, and so on, but we couldn't fully enjoy it because it was far too hot and bug-infested; however, the combination of this fan and a bug-zapper lamp allowed us to reclaim our deck! br>br>One of the most appealing features is that the air intake is on the sides (rather than the back), allowing you to mount it against a wall without fear of damaging the motor. br>br>We had a wonderful outdoor dinner with friends tonight. . . it was nearly 90 degrees and we didn't know it. Others point out that it lacks a remote control - It's an outdoor fan. . . a remote is something you'll misplace and won't use. br>br>Some people complain that the oscillation isn't very strong - When accompanied by an 8-person table, it's more than enough. Is it a bit pricey. . . perhaps, but it's an upright weatherproof fan! br>br>So far, a fantastic purchase.
This fan is one of my favorites, and I use it outside in Florida.
