There are several holes around the frame in which prongs fit into hold the metal face to the I haven't been able to remove it easily, to be honest The wooden spoon seems the most safest (and will scratch the surface less) method to help remove the screw (and was previously using a screw driver and a case knife). It is a great fan, very sturdy and it moves the air, plus it looks great, adding retro charm to any room. The product is a repeat purchase for me. Be patient and careful when you remove the face from the device if you purchase one. I have discovered that after regular use it requires a good cleaning every 60 days or so.

It appears well built, but there are problems. My new fan is absolutely gorgeous, and it fits in perfectly with my decor! There is a downside too it has developed the same Tic-Tac-Toe that has plagued other reviewers An hour or more of running TIC will cause it to freeze. I turn it off, and it makes a loud tic sound, followed by a smooth scraping noise. Hands down, this is the best one. It is the "Sr. " that I own. Fans in this size can serve both as desk fans and pedestal fans. As opposed to some smaller fans which have to be turned up loud in order to move air, this one is QUIET and powerful. You have to keep this in mind if you plan on moving the pedestal a lot. The machine does not even notice it's on when the temperature is set to the lowest setting, but it keeps the air circulating nicely, and it helps make our indoor air fresh and inviting. When I get it set to its highest setting, the fan gets the air swirling but is relatively quiet. My special interests include growing many indoor plants, so I especially love that this ensures that the air around them is continually moving and thus that mildew and fungal infections can be prevented. Furthermore, I have noticed that by using this device, the air humidity is distributed more evenly in my space, which is not one that, left alone, can become very high in certain places, encouraging mold and mildew, and extremely low in others, making some plants particularly unhappily.
