Questions & Answers

Is there anything different between this and the black version that costs less?

I believe the main difference between the GoldenRod and the newer models (besides color***) is that the GoldenRod units have higher wattages. Please review the chart I made below. I aggregated the heating wattage information for different length rods from Lockdown, as well as from another manufacturer, SnapSafe, all available from It is my sincere hope that Wattage and Price Charts for Different Size Rods *br> *br> *br> Description of Rod Power Cost (Amzn) *br>Lockdown "Dehumidifier Rod," 12" 8 W $17 &gt- The Lockdown “Dehumidifier Rod” measures 18" 12 W and costs The number 22 is not contained within the text *Brings Black Rod *Brings Lockdown* The Gold Rod, 12" 8W is $33 plus lockdown 18" 18 W Golden Rod $38 *branch lock* A slick, 24" 25 W lockdown 24" 25W for 39 $. It is important to note that the color and reflectivity of the surface make a small difference for the emittance (i.e. Efficient heat radiation) This is because black objects, which are less reflective, radiate a bit better than gold objects).

Is it used for cleaning? Is it used for taking humidity ?

In the safe, heat is responsible for maintaining the temperature so humidity cannot build up. In other words, humidity is not being removed from the air rather, it is being prevented. Exactly what I needed.

Can anyone tell me how hot the surface is?

With the help of a red laser dot I used a temperature gun The gold tube had a temperature of 116 degrees Fahrenheit pointed directly at it. An internal temperature of 75 degrees Fahrenheit is considered safe. Yesterday, September 26, 2020, I installed the 18" model.

For 24 cu feet of safe space, what size do you recommend?

installed the 18" model in a nearly 12 cubic foot safe (which can hold 24 long guns) and so far, it has worked well.

Safe for guns that is kept in the garage outside
5/5

This is a place in the Midwest. My refrigerator-size gun safe is one of many devices I use in an unheated garage in which I keep it. I've written a brief overview about what I did if you're interested. The storage of cold weather equipment. The first point. A 24" goldenrod can be found on the bottom floor of the 3.
A small Peet Dryer (for the bird) This is the second shelf of books. 1. 2. 3. Many of those rechargeable batteries aren't that reliable Crystals that grab moisture. I have 3 ac outlets and 2 USB ports in my safe, so it costs only $12. I maintain a steady temperature of 66f with a humidity of 45 percent inside my safe. The condition is maintained when the temperature outside ranges from 25 to 40 degrees. haven't had to experience what it's like when the temperature drops to zero for a long period of time, but my garage will still be in the 20s next month. As long as the temperature stays between 55 and 65 degrees, I'm confident it will be safe Despite the fact that the dehumidifier crystals are needed year round, I only need them in the summer. The crystals have stayed blue since it has gotten cold. The colors of the leaves change every five days during the summer. If you are wondering about storage in a garage or basement, I can tell you from experience that it works well.

Changes the humidity but not the temperature
3/5

The gun safe I have been using has been running an appropriately sized rod for a few weeks. In order to test how significant this is, I placed a wireless temperature and humidity sensor inside the safe, as well as one directly outside. As you can see from the results that I posted, the temperature is notably higher inside the safe. This involves both the temperature sensor that I calibrated before beginning the test, as well as the thermistor that I located inside. In spite of this, the humidity inside the safe is, on average, 3 percent higher than outside.

Please make sure you receive the US manufactured Golden Rod (TM) and not the Chinese made Battenfeld
5/5

It appears I ordered the original Golderod offered in this listing with a lifetime warranty but got the Chinese one with a one year warranty instead. It's being sent back to Amazon to be replaced. It was purchased by Battenfeld China who had previously owned Goldenrod (TM) USA. In what ways are they different? In the words of Godenrod The lifetime warranty at Battenfeld It's cheaper made and only has a one-year warranty

The Goldenrod (TM) heats up to 150 degrees, whereas the Battenfeld heats up to 120 degrees.

The rod is essential, but you will also need a fan and a The reviews on how well this device works seemed impressive, but the device on its own had no effect on my safe at all
3/5

In the end, I found that a USB desk fan on top of the golden rod and evadry 500 worked best to regulate temperature and humidity. The goldenrod is placed on the bottom of the safe, the Evadry is in the middle, and air is forced past the Evadry with a fan. Furthermore, the fan plays a very important role in circulating the heat. The safe I have for my guns is a 40-gun one kept in my garage, which is insulated, but gets quite cold at times. As a result, the temperature of my safe rose to 58°F and the humidity rose to 49%. Before, I did not seem to be able to lower it below 60% with a rod and EVA Dry. This is where the fan really comes into play.

This product is great
5/5

Does just what it says it will. I am not sure where some of the reviews have created such drama. One of the ones I got says, "Made in America" and it works. In essence, what you're buying is a very small heater that will warm the air in your safe and dry it at the same time. Besides the digital hygrometer, I also purchased a thermometer to measure the temperature and humidity of the air. It is imperative to be aware of the length of the sentence. If your safe can hold one, you probably want the biggest one. You also need to cut a hole through your safe for the AC line, since this is an AC powered safe.

An excellent product that does what it says it will do
5/5

For my 64 gun safe, I bought a GoldenRod and it works great. About 8% of the safe's temperature stays above ambient, and 40% of its humidity stays about where it should be. Any of the contents of the safe do not exhibit corrosion at all, and besides, it is not kept in a climate-controlled garage. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the product. definite benefit that I appreciate is the ability to customize the length of the cord. I cut the cord of the 110V outlet inside my safe to the right length to make it easier to snag with a weapon's butt and make it less obtrusive. It was quite easy to cut and terminate the cord, I simply screwed two brackets into the insulation in the safe, then snapped it in, I mounted mine horizontally directly below the door so the heat could travel throughout the safe evenly. As a final note, you should be careful when working around it in the bottom of the safe since it can get rather warm to the touch, even though it does not get particularly hot.

It's cheaper to go cheap
3/5

After over 20 years, my 18" heater finally gave up the ghost. I decided to spend a little extra In the package I found it plugged in, so I opened it. I came back a few hours later to discover that the pipe was still at room temperature. Electrical plugs seem to have been a bit cheaply made. There was a lot of cheap metal in it and it fell off the wire. There were two small pins on it Those things penetrate the insulation on each side of the wire, and MAYBE make contact with the wire within just as if you pressed the wire against them. In the slot of the plug where the pins were, there was nothing preventing the wire from moving freely. The factory can get the job done faster, but in the long run, how many returns will it take before the bean counters realize going cheap is not the best idea?.
