There is no paint on the metal. I believe that is the color of the metal, and it isn't
Every shelf has a different depth starting at the bottom (widest) and ending at the top (narrowest).
When the top two are in place, the structure will remain sufficient as long as they are anchored. Two of the bottom shelves however are already in place. I'm not sure if it will work or not since all shelves are secured, but I want to say the shelves are holding up the two main components.

The only problem is that it's pretty tall, so be sure to tie it to a One of the assemblies did take a while. On the top of the 2 side legs is a slant, and I forgot that while assembling it. You will not be able to level the shelves or unit if you cannot level them. Check to see that the slanted cut is on the top of the side legs.
It's all right. It's hard for me to decide what to think This product has a few things that I don't like about it which makes it less than favorable for me. A screwdriver is crucial to screwing in the screws because they can't be done without one. I can't even begin to imagine that the small tool provided by them will do the trick. That good little tool has worked great with other Songmic furniture in the past It's not the one you want! The second reason is that I have other black metal furniture in the house (desk legs, table legs, chair legs). This set is meant to match, but the metal is more Thus, it looks a bit out of place next to the other As a final step, bolt the shelf to the wall to keep it stable. Due to my rental status, I am unable to do that and didn't realize that without bolting to the wall, this shelf would be unstable. Those with an electric screwdriver, who don't mind the fact that it is not pitch black and who are comfortable bolting the shelf to the wall will find this shelf to be a good fit.
I love the size of this and it's perfect for our little.
It is easy to assemble and perfectly matches the ladder shelf.
After it's put together, it's easy to move and level, and it takes two people to assemble. This is just what I needed in the corner where I needed It's great to have shelves like this.
As soon as I bought it, I was surprised to find it was real wood! It was supposed to be a cheap, passable corner shelf until I could find something a little more sturdy. Let me just say that I'm dumb - This shelf struck me because it was so well crafted and of such high quality when I took it out of the box! A solid wood piece is used for the shelves and the metal frame is sturdy and thick. There is no cheap particle board on these shelves. Having never expected such high quality for a low price, I am happy to say that I will stick with this shelf and may even buy more from them in the future!.
We ordered this one, and the matching rounded ends-- but they aren't there yet. We had to wait until we received the backordered cap piece. There were a few pieces that weren't labeled on this one, so we had to take the unit apart and reassemble it until we were able to attach the cross hatching back support. It took us just a few minutes to wear out the included tool and have to use It turned out that the bottom shelf could not be used since all of the shelves sloped badly. An incorrect location had been chosen for drilling holes. Customer contacted seller, who shipped out a replacement immediately due to his good attitude. Despite being properly labeled (that would have saved a lot of time the first time), this time’s replacement didn't fit together at all. The engineer in the house tried to Frankenstein the two sets together in order to build a great result except It is not fair to end up with shelves that are so difficult. I returned the unit and canceled my credit. The one that was supposed to go with it was ordered. too bad because it looks very nice, it costs little, and it would have given us more space in our area.

However, I was rather disappointed when I noticed the shelves were not level and slanted quite a bit.
