The top is 23 1/2" wide (left to right) and 10 3/8" deep (front to back) at its widest point. The remaining shelves are 21 3/8" wide, with the second shelf being 9" deep, the third shelf being 10 3/8", the fourth shelf being 11 3/4", the fifth shelf being 13 1/8", and the bottom shelf being 14 1/2" deep.
Yes, the last few shelves at the bottom are larger. But this isn't your average ladder shelf; it's a little more elegant. It appeals to me. Get one right away. Once I measured it, it was ideal for my limited space.

He only needed my assistance with one of them who was causing him some problems. A broken piece (piece M) was found on one of the bookshelves, which was used at the very top of the shelf. I contacted the manufacturer using the phone number listed on the instruction manual, and they promptly sent me a replacement. These come highly recommended by me! These bookcases have it all! Also. My husband was blown away by how funny the little guy was. Each instruction is peppered with jokes! So, according to Hubs, whoever wrote the instruction manual deserves a pat on the back! Buy this bookshelf!.
The packaging of a product can often reveal its quality, and this bookcase is exceptionally well packaged. The box was wrapped in sturdy saran and had dense cardboard crossbeams around the edges, which I had never seen before, even from IKEA. There was no damage to any of the contents when they arrived. br>br>The bookcase was incredibly simple to assemble, but due to the large number of pieces, it will take about 30 to 45 minutes. Despite what some other reviewers have said, I found this bookcase to be extremely durable. Obviously, it will not be as durable as solid wood, which some reviewers seem to be comparing it to. It should stand straight and not wobble if constructed correctly. It can currently hold about 40 pounds of books without any problems. br>br>If you're familiar with IKEA's Black- This item matches the brown color perfectly (in terms of color, not grain). The bookshelf arrived with a few minor blemishes, but nothing significant enough to warrant returning it for a replacement. Overall, I am pleased with this product; the assembly instructions were clear, and the shelf fits nicely in the available space.
I'm serious. The instructions were simple to follow (as well as amusing). All the holes were drilled correctly, there were no scratches or other damages on anything, all the needed parts were there, and the quality of wood was better (like a note when it was time to get a friend to help with a step or time for snacks), and all the needed parts were there. The chalked version has a lighter, more cottage look to it, and it doesn't overpower a light-colored room like the darker version would. The majority of it took two of us (though one would have sufficed; I'm just not very good at following instructions), but the final part of connecting the two sides required three of us. Take your time, pay attention to the drawings, tighten each screw a little to make sure everything is aligned before cranking it all the way in place, and you should be fine; this is a decently heavy piece, so it looks great. Holds a large number of books of various sizes (I carefully examined all of the reviewer photos to see if it would meet my needs, and it did! The shelves are also deep enough to hold figurines, rocks, or whatever else you want to put on them. br>br>I wanted something that would hold a lot of books, didn't look like a traditional rectangle bookcase, was open so it wouldn't look as 'heavy' visually in the space I wanted, was well-made, didn't take forever to assemble, and didn't cost more to ship than it cost to buy (yeah, IKEA, you're it now, like I want to pay for two bookcases but only get one). This little lady is a multi-tasking machine. It appears to be excellent. I am overjoyed!.
The product is of excellent quality. Quite hefty. Assembling took a little longer than I anticipated.
It's especially aggravating because I ordered two of these bookcases. The first one was great and not too difficult to put together, but halfway through the second one, I discovered that the holes in the shelves had not been drilled at all. The shelves appeared to be marked where the holes should have been, but when compared to the others, it was clear that this was not the case. It was extremely confusing because each shelf was labeled differently. Another issue was that the shelves, even when properly prepared, did not cover the screws on the backside as they should. The shelves completely hide the screws on the first bookcase I built, as you can see. This product is obviously unfinished and poorly constructed. Since then, I've dismantled it and will be returning it. I'm very dissatisfied with this outcome.
Of course, it's made of particle board, as is most furniture these days. This isn't a deal breaker in my opinion. The verticals are made of pressed cardboard, but the rest of the structure is made of wood. It'll turn out great if you take your time putting it together. Sauder is an excellent brand that has never let me down. If you want real wood, you'll either have to build it yourself or pay three times as much to find one. I am pleased with my purchase and would suggest it to others.
Not once did I feel let down. It's as if the shelf was designed specifically to hold my figures, which shows how well-designed it is. br>br>The product was delivered in excellent condition- The packaging and assembly were both simple and quick; all of the parts fit together nicely with minimal effort, and while it is not as sturdy as I would have liked, it does the job. br>br>In conclusion, this is an excellent product that comes highly recommended.
