The 421434 International Lux Bookcase's shelves are not adjustable or removable.
I didn't think the safety cables were necessary. I would most likely do so if I had small children. Without them, things are pretty stable.

This bookcase shelf is one of my favorites. I made it myself because it's so elegant and simple to put together. It's well-made and sturdy, though I'd strongly advise anchoring it to the wall if you have small children. Overall, it's an excellent purchase.
I really like the design. I didn't care for the color, but the price was right, so I decided to spray paint it chrome. The outcomes of my research. It now has a new meaning for me.
Because the unit isn't very stable, it's not suitable for children. Although the product comes with mounting hardware, I did not want to drill a hole in my wall. The product is not as attractive as it appears on the website; it is hollow metal and appears cheap once put together. If you're on the fence about buying, don't. The cost of returning the item alone was $163, which was more than the item's cost. I'm so disappointed that I purchased this work.
It's quite sturdy for decoration, and it comes together quickly if you use a drill with a Phillips head bit, as I did. You must proceed with caution to avoid stripping the screws, and you may need to back them out and restart at times, but it is far superior to constructing this manually. The screws, by the way, are a bright yellow gold. However, unless you're looking for them, you won't notice them because the fasteners were designed to blend in nicely. Great piece that arrived in excellent condition and was shipped quickly.

I was immediately given a new shelf! I have to say, I was blown away by how quickly the seller resolved the problem. They did not send new screws, and you are unable to reinstall them. If you're taking this apart, use the screws because the screws will strip when you reassemble it. If you really wanted to, you could go out and buy some new screws. I didn't have to take anything apart once I got the new shelf; I simply slid it on top of the damaged shelf (it's SUPER snug fitting and sounded like it scratched the paint, so there's no going back once you put it on). The center shelf now has a double shelf frame, which makes it much more stable. It looks great, the glass sits perfectly on top of the new shelf, and there's no way to tell there was ever a problem - It appears to be a new version. middle shelf that is imposed Because of how quickly the seller resolved the issue, the shelf's sturdiness (I have four heavy glass containers on it), and how nice the finished product looks, I upgraded my review to five stars. I really wanted to give it five stars, but I had to settle for three for the time being. As other reviewers have stated, the screws do not fit perfectly, necessitating the use of a power drill - The issue has been resolved. My problem was that one of the welds on the shelf had broken, rendering it completely useless for supporting any weight. I've sent a message to the seller, and I'll update the review once I've had a chance to speak with them. If they can resolve this quickly and easily, I'll give this a five-star rating. I like the fact that the color isn't a bright gold, and it fits my needs perfectly. All I ask is for a new shelf and screws as soon as possible.
This is an amazing shelf. It's simple to put together and extremely durable. I was surprised at how nice it was for the price, and it was exactly what we needed!.
It was a little perplexing at times, but overall, I was pleased with the results. It appears to be of excellent quality and is well worth the investment. All you need is a little patience.
I ordered this shelf because I had been waiting for this exact style to go on sale at both Target and Wayfair, and then it appeared on Amazon at the best price after being comparable on both sites for about three months. It's exactly as it appears in the pictures, but putting it together was a nightmare because the screws that came with it didn't fit. They were far too large and would not screw in. Thankfully, I had gold screws on hand that worked well but could be replaced with ones that were slightly longer. It looks fine and serves its purpose, but it will most likely be replaced in the future with something more attractive.
