Positive Remarks: br>This bookshelf is a steal for the price. Even though it's so tall, it has an industrial feel to it, and it feels very strong and sturdy. It was a perfect fit in the space against the wall, which was 43 inches wide and this bookshelf was just a few inches short of that. Other bookcases were 47 inches wide, which was too large for what I needed. The wood finish is extremely high-end, but the metal is copper/brass with a black finish (the finish will rub off on your hands, revealing more copper/brass). I plan to use this bookshelf to display my rock collection, and I don't think it will be a problem. There are small feet on the bottom, similar to those found on a refrigerator, that allow you to level the bookshelf with your floors. br>Notes of Distinction: br>To tell you the truth, I've never wanted to give up putting a piece of furniture together more than I did with this one. It's not user-friendly because none of the metal beams and boards align (you'll have to bend the frame a little). The instructions say to leave the screws slightly loose so you can adjust the alignment, but the screws aren't very long, which makes threading them into the panels extremely difficult. The screw-in tool is also shaped like an L, but I wish it was a little bigger because it was difficult to hold in my hand while crewing in everything.

This shelf unit arrived in good condition after being carefully packaged. and, astonishingly, had every piece of hardware in the package (approximately 60 screws) as well as all pieces properly labeled with stickers. There are pictures in the instruction manual. based, but it is clear and simple to understand. The shelves aren't made of real, solid wood, as stated in the description, but they do look great. The metal frame elements have a brown finish with a hint of orange beneath it; there are scratches and rubbed areas on the finish that reveal the orange-brown finish. Color is ish. Is "distressed" supposed to be the look? But it's not a big enough deal to return (as evidenced by the photos), and I'm not sure a replacement would make a difference. I might try to fix them with a brown marker at some point, but it's only a minor issue. br>br>Here are a few helpful hints for putting it together:
1. Examine the diagrams carefully to ensure that the metal frame parts are assembled correctly and that the shelves are oriented correctly (the back and sides of each shelf have a wood edge around them). The illustrations are remarkably accurate. The front and back sides of the first metal frame parts to assemble have different screw holes, so be careful when putting them together. If something isn't quite right and you need to go back, it's simple to do so because you followed the most important instruction, which is 2.
2. Pay attention to the following instructions, which are printed on each page of the manual: DO NOT TIGHTEN THE SNAKES; give them a few turns to make sure they don't fall out, but don't overtighten. There are too many parts with multiple screws, and the square metal frame will have to flex a little during assembly to keep everything in place. Refrain from tightening them until the last possible moment!
3. A "manual" hex wrench is included; it works, but it takes an eternity to use. You'll save a lot of time and hand fatigue if you use a manual ratcheting screwdriver or socket wrench that works with standard (either a 1/8 or 5/32") hex inserts.
4. When tightening the screws, don't use a drill with a hex bit unless it's the last step. It will tighten the screws too much and turn them too quickly, preventing the frame from having the slight flex required to thread each screw properly. It is preferable to use a manual ratchet rather than an electric drill.
5. Two small "straps" are included to secure the shelf to the wall with wall anchors (included, but they are just plastic and I wouldn't trust them to keep the shelf from tipping over). over. ) Instead of anchoring the unit, I put the heavy items on the bottom and used the floor levelers (included) to level it (using a level on the shelves to get it as level as possible). If you decide to anchor it to the wall, make sure you use high-quality anchors or moly bolts.
NOTE: I did receive a post card asking for a gift card, but I wrote this review as soon as I assembled the unit but didn't post it because I wanted to include the photos. A gift- Before I could post, a card offer arrived, but it didn't change anything, and I'm not sure if it's even legitimate. I like this unit and made a point of pointing out the scratches on the frame and the sturdiness, earning it a "4".

The ding was hidden in plain sight- where you can move from one frame to the next. There was a problem as a result of this. It didn't go in without a hitch. It became tangled up. I was able to spray W40 and push it in, but it was a struggle; if it hadn't been for that, it would have been returned. br>br>When it came time to put the final dented part on the shelf, it didn't lay flat. To ensure that the screw could be aligned and pushed in, I had to press it down into the wood. br>br>Overall, it occurred near the end, and I'm glad I was able to correct it. There was no problem with the delivery. The box was in excellent shape when it arrived. Amazon is to be thanked. br>br>This was either inspected and ignored, or it was never inspected at all. The dent in the inserted piece was obvious, and it should have been tested. Everything else seemed to be in place. I was hesitant to order because screws don't always line up with holes, but these did. br>br>Excellent shelf. One of the photos shows how the metal has a dent in it and how it stands up higher and does not lay flat. It all worked out in the end, and I'm happy with how things turned out. If they can be a little more careful with their other products, I'll look into them. It's lovely. Very well packaged.

I was looking for one that I could fit my smallish TV on, and while I'm sure the manufacturer wouldn't recommend it for safety or structural reasons, I did discover that you can remove a shelf to make room for one. The shelves themselves are of excellent quality. They are lovely. I also like how the frame is distressed and has coppery colored bits in it. The frame structure itself is also appealing to me. It appears to be Asian-inspired, which is exactly what I'm looking for. In comparison to other items I looked at, the quality is excellent, and the price is unbeatable. I'm thinking of getting a second one just in case I move to a bigger place, because two of them together would be fantastic, and I have a lot of books! Is it obvious that this bookcase is one of my favorites?.
