Questions & Answers

How much seated depth is there?

The depth of the seat is 24". Our purchase has made us extremely happy. The green velvet was purchased by us. The sofa is lovely, and it is extremely comfortable!

Is the hunter green really hunter green, or is it more of an olive green? I'm not a fan of olive green! Please accept my gratitude. ?

With blue undertones, it's a hunter green. Although not olive, you will not be disappointed with this couch.

Is the leather on the cushions completely covered? Yes, according to some reviews, and no, according to others. ?

Leather cushions must have a fabric back panel to allow them to breathe. This is not a defect in the product's quality.

I'm curious about the sofa's backside. How does it look from the back?

Leather is also used to cover the entire back. It isn't quite as long as the back cushions are. However, it is equally beautiful from the back.

Quality control is lacking, and the product's durability is in question
3/5

Let me begin by saying that the first Rivet couch I received in May, the 74in loveseat, was absolutely stunning in terms of appearance and quality. I was eagerly awaiting the return of the 86-inch couch, which had been out of stock for several months, and ordered the larger couch as soon as it was available. Both of the sofas arrived in good condition and were simple to put together. Unfortunately, the second couch's leather is noticeably inferior to the first. Even when I first got the couch in early August of this year, it was rougher and thinner than it is now. It's only been two months, and there's already a blemish on the couch's seat. We don't scuff up the furniture and don't have any pets. In such a short period of time, there should be no visible wear on a couch. Our other leather couch is from Ikea, and after 5 years, it still looks brand new. I expect to have to replace this couch in a year or two, which is a shame because it is quite lovely. br>br>Creative+ paraphrase: Due to Amazon's appalling customer service for Rivet items, I'm deducting another star. I tried contacting customer service about the one-year warranty that this couch was supposed to come with. I was re- I was directed to several different departments, and no one seemed to know how to get the sofa's warranty service. After speaking with a manager, I was told that there was nothing else she could do on her end, but that if I emailed warrantyquestions@amazon. com, everything would be taken care of. com; "We investigated your recent request for a copy of the manufacturer's warranty for Rivet Tufted Mid-Century Mid-Century Modern Mid-Century Modern Mid-Century Modern Mid-Century Modern Mid-Century Modern Mid We've looked for a Century Leather Sofa but haven't been able to find it. You might also want to contact the manufacturer for more information. " Because Rivet is an Amazon subsidiary, I'm stuck with a faulty couch and no recourse. Amazon has done a poor job. br>br>12/2018 Update: I'm going to reintroduce the star. After several more attempts to contact Amazon about the defective couch, I was fortunate enough to come across another manager who was able to arrange for the shipping of a new replacement couch as well as the pickup of the old "defective" couch. Unfortunately, when I received the replacement couch, it was clear that it was made of the same rougher leather as the "defective" couch it was supposed to replace. The main problem appears to be that the top grain leather is untreated and unfinished, making it extremely vulnerable to wear. I've had the replacement couch in my living room for almost three months now. I've protected it by laying a blanket/cover on the seat the majority of the time and conditioning it with several coats of leather conditioner and preservative, which has made the leather more supple and improved the overall color of the sofa. Thus- The couch has so far held up well. In the near future, I intend to coat it with a resoling finish, and I'll update this review. I'm sure the extra work will help the leather last longer in the long run, but it's still a lot more work than I anticipated having to do with my furniture.

AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS - NO BACK SUPPORT A detailed look at what COULD HAVE been a fantastic apartment-sized sofa
3/5

Regrettably, my search for a small, leather, apartment-sized sofa has started all over again. br>br>Update: October 13th, 2018 - THE REPLACEMENT HAS ARRIVED, AND IT WILL BE RETURNED - The replacement arrived today, and the first thing I did after unpacking it was to test the strength of the back support, which was creaking from the beginning this time. Not as bad as the original sofa, but it will get worse in a short time; closer inspection from beneath the sofa reveals a very thin plywood back support. I don't know how I missed it the first time; I guess I just assumed it was a fairly thick piece of wood. It's most likely less than a quarter of an inch; It's flimsy, has a lot of flex, and will crack in no time; it might even arrive cracked like this one. It's also only held together by thick tacks. You can see what I mean by watching the video I've attached. At the very least, the back support should be webbing, like the seat cushion support. Until Amazon's designers introduced flimsy plywood (a bad idea), webbing support was the lowest end of the spectrum. The truth is that this couch has NO BACK SUPPORT. Even the construction of West Elm isn't this low-cost. br>br>Unfortunately, Amazon has compressed the video to the point where you can hear a big crack when I apply a little pressure to the back support; unfortunately, this replacement is being returned for a refund. I'd give this sofa a four out of five stars based solely on its appearance and style. It started out as a five-star rating, but now it's down to a one-star rating. This is something I would not advise anyone to do. It won't last more than a few months if you lean against the back without it creaking. br>br>Fortunately, Amazon is compensating me with a full refund and $150. I didn't ask for anything more than a refund, but it was a nice gesture on their part. There's a lot of YMMV there. br>br>At this point, you should probably stop reading this review and refrain from purchasing this sofa. However, if you want to read more, here are some preliminary evaluations up until the major flaw was discovered. br>br>Update 10/7/18 - 6 Weeks - AN EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY E When I leaned against one of the couch's back corners today, I heard a creaking. After removing the back cushion and feeling around on the couch's back support, I discovered a small area that pushes in and creaks. When leaning against the back of the couch, the creak can be quite irritating. I was planning on doing an Amazon chat, but as I was filling out my reasons for contact on the sofa order, I noticed the option to "return or replace in 3 easy steps. " Because I was past the 30-day return period, I was given the option of getting a call back to arrange for a technician to come out and repair or replace the item if repair was not possible. I provided my phone number and received a call shortly after submitting the request; I explained the problem to the CSR, who informed me that the item was out of the return window but that they would arrange for a replacement. They made it seem like this was a favor, so I'm not sure if it's because of my Amazon purchase history (I buy a lot from them) or the warranty. I never mentioned the warranty, and neither did they. Although, because it was a little difficult to hear them, I may have missed a few words they said. The entire conversation lasted less than 5 minutes. A replacement is reportedly planned for the following Saturday. I'm going to give it a three-star rating now. The fact that this creaking has begun so soon is a little concerning. Maybe it's a fluke, and I'm crossing my fingers that it is. I'll change the rating again if my replacement lasts longer without problems, but for now, I'm concerned about longevity. I wasn't expecting ten years, but I had hoped for a lot more than six weeks. Also, please be aware that when I'm sitting, I'm not rough. There will be no leaps or flops onto the couch. br>br>update 9/21/18 - 1 month - I'm updating a more recent photo (one with blue pillows) that I took about a month ago. Simply looking at the front edge of the seat cushion will reveal how the leather and foam have relaxed. In comparison, there are almost no wrinkles in the earlier photos. The back cushions are a little hard. I tried putting them on the seat cushion and lying down on top of them for a few minutes. It hasn't accomplished much and is far too uncomfortable to do so for an extended period of time. As my 30-day return window has nearly expired, I'm going to keep this. If any problems arise, I still have a one-year warranty. br>br>Update 9/9/18: 2 weeks - I've had this sofa for two weeks, and I'm surprised at how soft the seat cushion has become. It's on the verge of collapsing under the weight of its own weight. I believe Amazon's assessment that this is near the firm end of the scale is based on the foam's first day of use. The foam has softened considerably over the last few weeks, and it is now beginning to sink in. I'm hoping it doesn't get any softer in the future. I believe this is due to the frame, as there is a section in the middle that still feels firm. You can see the support that is right in the middle of the sofa if you look at my photos and look at the one showing the opening where the legs are attached during shipping. In contrast to where the open strapping is, the foam in this section has nowhere to go. It's not uncomfortable in the middle of the seat cushion, but it's not as soft, and it's become more noticeable as the other areas of seating have loosen up. Is my purchase still satisfactory to me? Even more so than on the first day. So much so that I'm bumping it up to a 5 star rating. The seat cushion is perfect for me as long as it does not go any further and becomes flat in the future. I took a nap on it today, and what was supposed to be a cat nap turned into a two-hour snooze fest during which I didn't move or turn. That middle section with the slight firmness, in my opinion, actually aids in body support when lying down. I'm still waiting for the back cushions to soften up, but it'll probably take a while because there isn't much weight against them. br>br>8/29/18 update - 4 days - The leather in the seat is already stretching and softening after only four days. This gives the impression of being a little cozier. To put it another way, it's not quite as firm as it was on the first day. It's still not overly soft and sinking, but it's a lot more comfortable than it was the first day. I usually sit on the right side of the sofa, and there is a distinct difference between the left and right sides of the sofa right now. To balance things out, I'll have to shift my position. br>br>August 25, 2018 - Day 1 - Day of delivery and initial reviewbr>br>I'll try to keep this review up to date as my experience with this sofa progresses. br>br>First, let me say that I've been looking for an apartment-sized leather sofa for a few months now. I looked into local furniture stores, larger chain furniture stores, home furnishing stores (Pottery Barn, West Elm, etc. ), pop-up online retailers (Article, Joybird, etc. ), and so on. The prices started at $1 and went up to $5. 5k- At least 4k. Despite the fact that the more expensive options were likely to be of higher quality, I didn't want to spend that much money on a small sofa. This Rivet Amazon 74" sofa was the cheapest option, so I figured I'd give it a try because of the free 30-day return policy. Days leading up to the delivery: br>br> br>I placed my order for the sofa on a Wednesday and was able to have it delivered on Saturday. However, you can only choose the day (9 a. m. - 9 p. m. ) during checkout. 9 p. m. ) is not a convenient time for most people, at least not for me. It "shipped" the next day (Thursday), according to my notification. I was given a tracking number that began with the letter "XPO. " I contacted Amazon via chat around noon on Thursday to see if I could get a shorter delivery window. The chat representative had no idea what I was talking about or how the process would work. My expectation was that the delivery company would contact me the day before or the night before. A customer service representative from Amazon couldn't even confirm that this was the procedure. Anyway, I did a Google search for "XPO" and found the company's website, which has a tracking feature that is far more useful than the Amazon CSR. At the very least, you'd think they could have pointed me in the right direction. I was able to sign up for text message updates once I had tracked down my sofa. My order was recognized by my phone number when I called the XPO phone number on Friday, the day before my delivery. I'd be notified of my delivery window later that afternoon, according to an automated message. It wasn't until around 8 p. m. that I realized what had happened. I received a text message at 30 p. m. with a three-hour delivery window. It was also mentioned that the delivery drivers would contact me 30 minutes prior to their arrival. br>br>Delivery date: br>br> br>I had a 12 p. m. delivery window. 3 p. m. , and around 11 p. m. , I got a call from one of the delivery guys. 30 people said they'd arrive in 20 minutes. It took a little longer than expected, but who knows what kind of traffic they might have encountered. The delivery men were a little uncommunicative, but it's possible they didn't speak English very well. They could have the box in my living room in 15 minutes if they didn't waste any time. They took off after I signed. Set up: br>br> br>First and foremost, if you're in good shape and can handle a little weight, you can probably do this by yourself (I did), but it's much easier with two people. I flipped the box over so that the side I could open was facing the side, and I was able to wiggle the sofa out on my own once the box was opened. I was also able to lift one end, slide the wrapping off, and repeat the process on the other. Again, two people would make both of these tasks much easier. With the legs hidden beneath the sofa in a small zippered portion of the bottom covering, I knew what to expect based on the reviews. I was relieved to discover that there were five legs (one of which is slightly shorter and fatter in the middle). It appears that the photos in the listing are photo-realistic. gotten rid of It may have been mentioned in some reviews, but I wasn't sure if it came with the 74. " I was able to flip it right side up from one end after screwing the legs in place. I was concerned that I would damage one of the legs in the process, but everything seemed to go smoothly. br>br>Construction Components: br>As I was removing the legs, I looked over the construction (or what I could see of it). It's made up of a combination of solid wood and plywood (no particle board here!). For the price, I had expected something similar. Metal strapping is not used to support the seat cushion. It looks like nylon (as evidenced by the green strapping in the photos). However, because that part was hidden, I wasn't able to see how it was connected to the frame. In the photo with the strapping, you can see the foam of the seat cushion as well. The back cushions are removable, but because they have partial fabric on the back side, they are not reversible, as others have mentioned. I've included a photo of the back cushion padding, which appears to be the same as the seat cushion but is surrounded by quilt batting. The leather is extremely soft and pleasant to the touch. However, I don't believe it has a protective coating. That is, however, a matter of personal preference. You don't want it to be coated if you want it to age and patina. You'll probably want coated leather if you want it to resist staining and scratching. I figure that with a structure like this, it won't last forever, so it won't matter. The leather color isn't quite as deep as some of Amazon's photos, but it's still nice. It's more of a "camel" color than "cognac" (or something in between), in my opinion. If it's not protected, it might darken a little. Anyone who is concerned about this can get a free sample from Amazon. I agree, and when I compare the sample to the actual sofa, they are remarkably similar. It goes without saying that no two dyed leathers will be identical. br>br>Comfort:br>I've been sitting in an upright position on this sofa for the last hour or so, writing this review on my laptop, and it isn't as firm as I expected. The Amazon listing indicates that it is closer to the firm end of the scale, which it most likely is, but not excessively so. You don't sink too deeply into the cushion, and it bounces back a little. Because there is only one cushion running the length of the seat, it would most likely affect a second person sitting on the opposite end if it were too soft. The seating angle is accurate to the Amazon listing, as it is a little upright, but if you have a coffee table or ottoman to put your feet up on, you can move forward on the seat and accommodate for a more relaxed position. You might want to consider lying down. I prefer the feeling of lying down on this sofa to sitting up. So your behind doesn't sink into a black hole, it's supportive all the way around. I'm 5'10" and can barely stretch my legs out on this sofa (the 74" one, remember) while propped up with the included pillows. Those pillows, on the other hand, I'm not sure I'll use. Because the arms aren't very cushioned, I'll probably just keep some throw pillows on it. br>br>Because Amazon doesn't list them, here are the inner seat dimensions: br>The depth is approximately 22" and the width is approximately 64". 5". br>br>Conclusion: br>br> Unless something catastrophic occurs, I believe it is a keeper for the price. I'm hoping the cushions will relax a little more, but it's not a deal breaker for me. This sofa was the perfect size for me and the most affordable option for a full-size sofa. Leather mid-century sofa (or any style, for that matter) (as opposed to contact areas only). If it comes to that, I'm worried about how the return process will go, but I'm hoping it won't. I'll try to give an update in 6 months or so on how things are going, but for now, I'm satisfied. I hope this is of use to you. Who wants to buy a sofa without first seeing it and, even more importantly, sitting on it?.

An open and honest assessment
5/5

Ok, there were several reviews on this particular sofa that greatly aided me in deciding what design, quality, and, ultimately, company to go with—including negative reviews (which are just as important as positive reviews). Yes, this sofa takes a little longer to break in than expected and has the tiniest creak. However, anyone reading this should keep in mind that this sofa was purchased online and delivered in a truck that traveled hundreds of miles. In general, the Rivet collection appears to be very comparable to high (over-the-top)-end (high-end) (high-end) (high-end) (high ) compared to their competitors' prices. This sofa fits right in with the current Dutch aesthetic trend. I have two medium-sized canines, so the velvet is easy to clean. All wood and metal stains look great with this color. Take it from someone who spent a month looking for the right sofa in the right style. Now, if you want better quality, spend a few hundred dollars more, but this sofa is decently designed and I'm sure comparable to high-end models. br>br>I hope I've been of assistance in your search for a sofa. Best of luck. br>br>.
