It is somewhat of a two-person job going from the sofa to bed and back to the sofa again, and the mattress is heavy but very comfortable, and the futon shows off a bit of class. All in all, I am very pleased with this product and am not in a position where I need to handle it on my own.
Rather than being soft, the mattress is firm, but it's not too hard. I feel very comfortable on it.
There are two full sized mattresses here
A set of 3 boxes is included. It is not difficult to put together. Along with the side pieces, the instructions were in a box. Additionally, you can watch a video on how to assemble this on the Internet. Towards the end, it may be necessary to enlist the help of another person, but for the most part I did it on my own.

In my research for a decent futon to actually sleep on after purchasing and returning the worst futon I had ever seen, I spent weeks trying to find something in a reasonable price range. Based on the reviews, I decided to go with this one. The bed is made of solid wood, well-made, and about as comfortable as one would expect from its construction. I assemble this piece on my own in one hour and 45 minutes, even though the directions say two people are needed to assemble it. Everything went smoothly after the directions were clearly given. Though they sent the brown, they sent me the grey. Still, it's a great buy because I'm just putting a sheet on it and giving.
As we only had pictures to go by, we made a few mistakes. Assembly is required where you intend to store it since the unit is quite heavy. In the limited space we had, it was perfect. It has so far been a pretty good experience. We originally bought one from a local retail store, but it was like sitting on bricks, so we decided to spend double the amount and buy this one instead. If you're putting this together by yourself, here's a tip torque the screws down tightly. After you have finished the other steps, the last thing you need to do is connect the crossmembers to both armrest pieces and leave them loose enough to slide the folding assembly into the slots, then tighten them.
