Yes! Before I bought it, I read all of the reviews, and one person mentioned that they used it for sewing. That was enough to persuade me to purchase it for my son's college room laptop desk, because he uses a super heavy metal platform on top of his desk to raise it up. down (so that you can stand or sit while you work). The desk has plenty of space and is well-built. That heavy metal platform is perfectly accommodated.
The depth under the desk is 29" (or 2' 5"), so it depends on the height of your bookcase.
It's for my grandson, so I bought it. It fits me perfectly because I am 5'2" tall. But, to be honest, I believe your chair will be more important than your desk. It should work for you, in my opinion.
It will not be ruined immediately if you spill water on it; however, as with any non-plastic piece of furniture, I would not recommend leaving water on it for an extended period of time because it will begin to peel. For the time being, I use a coster underneath my hot drinks because the glass of water did not damage the surface. I hope you find this information useful.

I needed a desk of this size for my daughter to be able to work from home while she was visiting. It's a good size, and the white and beige colors complement the rest of the room nicely. The desk was simple to put together, but two people were required to carry it up the stairs. Hopefully, it will accommodate the 22-inch monitor I ordered, as well as a laptop and the other items shown. Because the desk was in a small guest room bedroom, it was fortunate that it was tall enough for a desk chair with adjustable height to fit underneath it. The "knife hatch" fashion pattern on the top bothers me; it appeared to be damaged until I checked the listing for details, but it can be hidden if you have things on it. The four stars are due to the fact that it wobbles a little. I sincerely hope that this will not be an issue for my daughter during her eight-hour work days. Because it's on a rug, the wobble may be exacerbated. It appears to be capable of supporting the weight she intends to place on it. If my opinion changes after my daughter has used it for a few days, I will update the review. Our table arrived undamaged and in good working order, and it was delivered on time.
This table is perfect for me! I'm 5'2" and didn't want a desk that was too high or difficult to put up and down when needed, so this table was ideal! I like that it's not too heavy, that I didn't have to assemble it, and that the dark color complements the rest of my furniture! This table is ideal for use as a computer desk or as a place to write or draw. You certainly get what you pay for when it comes to the price! I am extremely pleased with my purchase and would gladly order from them again!.
I also didn't want to deal with the hassle of putting anything together. If you need a large desk and don't want to put anything together, I highly recommend this. The finish is attractive enough to serve as an entryway or behind-the-sofa table. Compared to other desks I looked at, delivery was much faster. The package and its contents were not damaged. It's a breeze to unfold and secure the legs. It only took a few minutes for me to set it up. This is exactly what this non-profit organization aims to accomplish. This was exactly what the handy girl needed. I would suggest it.

This is an excellent product that is simple to set up and maintain. It appears to be a sturdy piece of furniture when assembled, but it is easy to disassemble and conceal when not in use. We use it as a desk in a room with a Murphy Bed, which allows it to be tucked away when the bed is not in use - It only takes a few seconds!.

We're renting a house, so I had to put my desk in my room. This table is just the right size to accommodate my computer monitor and keyboard. It's light enough to carry around but strong enough to do the job. It also folds up neatly when not in use. It's one of the things I'm glad I bought.
