You should also know that the table in actual fact measures 42" in height, not 40". Using this device was not as easy as it seems and I was disappointed when I discovered that after assembling the device. The box was extremely heavy, so you would need a second person to move as well as assemble it. Having said that, I must say, the table was/is gorgeous once it is assembled. It has a very dark brown color. It matches with my expresso cabinets (very dark brown), which makes it an ideal match for my kitchen. It is made of that "pressed wood" $h1T, though not very strong (hence the cheap price point), and it is very stable. I wouldn't sit on it, but it will hold your typical dining ware well. I also recommend, because it is made out of pressed wood, giving it a good polish with a wood wax product and making sure spills are wiped up quickly. Any stool lower than 30" in seat height would not be practical if you plan to purchase stools for this table. In hindsight, I would have preferred 32" stools, but the table top is exactly 42" in diameter. I bought 30" high back stools to match, but I would have preferred 32" stools. 1) Perfectly shaped and compact design, with rich color, solidity, and stability attracting your eyes. Although it was delivered early, some finishing damage was evident on the box. To have a brand new table that already has chips in the finish is really disappointing. It has not yet been possible for me to put it together. There will definitely be two people working on this project. As the X shaped pieces are screwed into the base, someone must hold them at the correct angle for the screws to go in. The more chips you use, the better it looks. The same table was in a major chain furniture store for double the price. I was a little leery, but I'm glad I decided to buy it. I wasn't sure if the quality was the same.
