When I attached mine, I attached it to a metal headboard. If there are holes, you should be able to match the holes in some way. There are a lot of options on antiques, such as holes, but I'm not sure the holes are allowed on antiques.
The same question came to mind when I bought a head/foot board that I had to attach to. Yes, there are screw holes in it. In order to attach it, you MUST use a screw and nut! Although, mine did not make it all the way into 18". However, it is large enough to fit several laundry baskets filled with things but not my storage boxes. I like the frame more than my previous wobbly one because it's solid built
Although I am not sure what the hole alignment will look like with a metal headboard, you might have to take a chance and see what happens.

This was purchased a few months ago so that I could mount the Zinus 18-inch lamp The Smartbase measures one inch in diameter. The brackets on the Smartbase won't fit my headboard, so I tried to install them on the headboard today. There are two key issues Firstly, enter 1. These brackets fit perfectly over the frame, so you should be able to see them in the instructions. A specific hole in the frame is supposed to connect the brackets to the frame. The brackets should hang over the corners of the frame. In this case, one of the cables directly conflicts with the bracket, which makes it impossible for the bracket to Due to this, the bracket is not only skewed but also does not fit flush. The brackets are installed inside the headboard legs instead of the exterior ones. The headboard has an option to be screwed to the inside of the headboard legs. A headboard normally sits on top of a bed frame, with the frame perpendicular to the bed. would require the headboard leg to cross over the frame and brackets of the mattress. There are no holes drilled in horizontally on headboards, and this poses a big problem. A traditional headboard (metal) has holes drilled in the traditional way that sandwich perpendicularly to the headboard. My frame is drilled so that it sandwiches perpendicular to the headboard. Since both of these problems exist, I would like to return the brackets, but the period for returning them has already passed. As of right now, I have Zinus brackets that will not work with a Zinus frame, and neither will they work with a standard headboard.
Edit Zinus customer service has been completely unhelpful at this point, and I have communicated with them several times. As of the last communication (1/9/20), I requested that my issues be escalated to a manager because the person who had been communicating with me had not been helpful to me. This person did not proceed to refer the matter to a manager, and referred me once again to a non-manager The video was not helpful and not responsive.
My thanks to those who gave me the opportunity. They are very sturdy and I am pleased with them. I have not yet attached a headboard, but it appears that any headboard would fit! Most importantly, it includes bolts to attach to the bedframe and bolts to attach a headboard. The bolts were not mentioned in the description, and there are no bolts shown in the picture. I am very impressed with the bolts included. I have installed a headboard, and the brackets have held the headboard well, there are enough holding points to make installation straightforward. It was a good purchase.
Although they appear to have been easy to install and attached perfectly to a headboard from another manufacturer, the metal is extremely thin and feels very There's no way to put any weight on the headboard itself without feeling it bend In order to attach it in all the places it should, a typical headboard would be required. I had space for two connection points, but because the brackets are designed for homes with typical bed frames, they're both near the bottom portion, so another point would have been better at the top to create a more secure connection. You should still be able to use this with gentle care.
It is easy to assemble. The only complaint I have is that the twin headboard and footboard are too wide to attach properly. Originally, these were going to be sent back, but we decided to attach the headboard and footboard with zip ties. It would have been nice to screw them in, but now we need the storage space and zip ties do not compromise safety, so how can we resist? This is what improvisation is all about!.

By making my own bed, I was able to save a lot of money. This took me less than a half hour to put together, just on my own, once I found the headboard, purchased the zinc bedframe, and the brackets. I had to call my daughter to help me lift the headboard onto the brackets, but she was there within half an hour. There was an $80. 00 charge. I spent $600 on a good mattress, now I have arthritis and I sleep like a baby. Sleeping in such a bed does not wake me up with squeaking, and I can fit 8 large bags under it as storage (how's that for space savings? As a condo owner, I have to have lots of storage. This is much better than a wooden bed with drawers in a wood bed). My Condo has excellent storage and I have the best bed I've ever had. I have a Lull mattress as well as an excellent bed. The headboard can be changed whenever I want and the bedspreads can be changed if I want a new look for the room.
Attaching an old headboard to a modern platform bed was a fun project. I used this product in conjunction with a set of "hook frame brackets" and it worked great.
A Zinus frame of 18" was used for these. Although they were far down, the frames still held very well even though they hung long. Both of their sides are braced, which makes them a good design. It felt like the headboard was solidly attached to the bed frame and that it wouldn't move.
