Yes, it can be hung from a shower curtain rod. Mine is suspended from a second rod on the tub's opposite side.
It's standard, so it'll go over any standard cabinet doors. I purchased it to provide extra storage for my daughter in her dorm.

The basket has hangers attached to it, but they only hang over the cabinet door. You have the option of securing on, but you are not required to do so.

This model's height can be adjusted to fit in a variety of different sized cabinets, which was a little difficult to see in the description. As a result, it's extremely adaptable and can be used in a wide range of situations. The steel rods that slide inside a plastic bushing on the back side of the basket on the one I have don't stick well, and the basket slides to the bottom when any weight is placed inside; this isn't a big deal, and I just secured them with a couple of very small zip ties I had on hand. If I needed to adjust things on a regular basis, this would not be a good idea and would only make things worse. Except for the back adjustment slides, it appears to be well-made.
However, it isn't very durable. The hooks continue to rotate, which I can live with. The worst part is that the arms keep sliding, causing the entire thing to tilt! It will not stay, no matter how hard I try. There are a few things in there, but nothing that is heavy or weighs more than one pound. It only weighs 2 pounds and will not stay up. When I open and close it, it tilts and then bangs up against the cabinet. I switched to a different brand/vendor, which was far superior.
I moved into a rental that didn't have any bathroom drawers - Cabinets are all there is. I needed a storage solution that wouldn't take up too much room on the counter. This was an excellent choice. I'm not sure if it's a problem with my cabinets in particular, but they don't close completely when these are installed. I'm not particularly concerned, but I thought I'd bring it up in case anyone else is.
Although it didn't work out for the purpose for which I purchased it, I was able to find another application for it. I use it to store my shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and razor in the shower. Over the towel rack in the back of my shower, I hung the top "hooks. ".

mDesign has provided me with a number of excellent products, but this was not one of them. The rose gold finish was extremely uneven, to the point where one of the hanging bars was so dark and thickly finished that it barely slid through its holder, whereas the other hanging bar was barely rose gold tinted at all and slid through with ease. In addition, the color of the basket was noticeably uneven. In theory, it's a good product, but it's poorly executed. I had to return it, which was very disappointing.
This storage holder fits perfectly inside the drawers beneath my sink and holds new toothpaste and soap packets with ease. I think I have 4 toothpaste boxes and 8 Dial soap packets in there right now, and there's still room for a few more things. The holder is sturdy and capable of supporting a significant amount of weight.
