The ladder is securely fastened to the wall. The wall and floor are protected by protective pads at the top and bottom of the ladder.
Here's a video I made to help you along the way. It's best if you use the four regular screws to connect the ladder's sides first, then watch the video. I hope this helps you understand how things work.
The horizontal slats should be tilted so that the hardware faces the wall once they've been assembled. You'll have to disassemble it and swap the vertical pieces if you don't want the hardware to show through. The same mistake was made by us. It took a long time to disassemble and reassemble, but the result is much better.

This ladder, my friends, is incredible. I'm not sure why the other reviewers gave it such a poor rating. This thing is incredibly tough (I've caught my 2-year-old climbing and jumping on it). It's not going to break if my son hasn't already broken it. It's also not difficult to assemble. It's what ties the space together in our living room. I wish the whitewashed version matched our colors, and I was afraid the dark brown stain would hide the wood grain, but it doesn't. It appears to be fantastic.
After the holidays, it was also a good fit for blanket storage. My purchase was a great success.

I was dead set on making this product work: When I opened the box, however, I was dismayed to discover that it was made of cheap pine with a patchy stain. I put it together in the hopes of making it look better once it was done. Some of the screw holes had been countersunk, while others hadn't. The wood was split in several places, and the sides were out of alignment. Unfortunately, this is yet another low-cost Chinese-made item.
With the blankets arranged, the ladder looks fantastic. The color scheme appears to be rich. It took some time to get the holes to line up properly during assembly - They were not perfectly drilled - Otherwise, everything is straightforward.
They only gave us one ladder rung, so I had to give it a one-star rating. I was extremely disappointed.
The unit is simple to put together. The color of the stain is deep. It's both durable and appealing.
The wood isn't bad in and of itself, but they had to be equal. They move around; It is not stable because one side is offset from the other. I don't understand why there is an indent at the top; it doesn't make sense. Because the "stairs" part is angled sideways, the "gears" can be seen. The directions are a little confusing. There are only two steps, and the screws and gears are not labeled.
