This black material is merely activated carbon that has likely been very violently shaken Normally, the carbon is the filtration media that is flushed out in the first 5 minutes You should use it for at least 10 minutes. There are no side effects from it. To ensure a good filter, it is recommended to rinse it thoroughly for 2 days As you normally would for a new filter, run the faucet for 3 minutes. Next, install the filter into the pitcher and run 2 more passes of water through it. The carbon in the first passes can be thrown away or used to water your plants (plants also love it). Initially, I was thrilled with the pitcher filter that I received when I ordered it. It was great to swim in the water. The water had a nice, fresh, pure taste. Naturally, I ordered replacement filters as soon as the filter was worn out. It's unfortunate that the quality is so disappointing. Every time I fill up my pitcher of Water, I seem to find the black sentiment there. In accordance with the instructions, I rinsed the filter. Several times now, I have washed the pitcher and refilled it with water. Particles of black appear at the bottom of the screen each time.
I enjoyed how the water felt as well as how it tasted. Then I bought three refills, and on two of them the water barely dripped through after soaking for quite some time, and on the third one the water flowed through without being filtered. A closer inspection (by leaving a filtered glass of water out for 12 hours) revealed a chlorine taste as well as an additional bad taste, so I am not certain if the filters I got were from a bad batch or if they were damaged. At $40, I don't want fake filtration! I need to place an order again, but I don't want to risk delivery delay. As I mentioned in the beginning, I gave it three stars for my first purchase and one star for my second purchase.
The friend who gave me the Santevia water pitcher convinced me to research the heck out of all these kinds Compared to any other system, Sanevia is rated much higher. Therefore, all I had to do was buy filters and they worked It is a bit frustrating when Amazon promises 2 day delivery and then changes it to 3 day delivery as soon as you pay for your order. I sometimes order knowing I will receive it in 2 days, but this is not a huge deal. Do not make a promise of delivery within 2 days and forget to deliver!.
Unlike other water pitchers, my Santavia is very nice. This filter system provides me with added minerals in my water, so it tastes great and has great taste. In my opinion, the only downside to the pitcher is that the cost of the filters has gone up since I first bought it so I find them to be a little expensive. (An elderly 2) I really hope they don't raise the price.
This pitcher and filter set was recommended to me by my naturopathic doctor because these products remove some of the contaminants in faucet water plus make it alkaline, which is supposed to be healthy. I do notice that it removes all of the chemical smells from my water, as well as changing the pH A great tasting water and crystal clear ice cubes are made with PH 5 water, which is alkaline. It is great that the filter lasts 60 days rather than the Brita filter which only lasts two weeks.
There may be nothing wrong with this filtration system, but it takes twenty minutes to clear out all the residual charcoal. Even after cleaning the pitcher, I still found charcoal in it. It was recommended by an ENT, but considering how much water it takes to clear the filters, it might not be the best choice for you. The manganese in our water must be traded off, so I must keep that in mind.
I had a bad experience with my last order of this item. One of the filters had a caved-in side. My counter was covered in the insides of that filter. This was a very disappointing experience. It is too expensive to have one that cannot be used. I was very disappointed to learn this happened and of course did not bring this to the attention of the seller or to the Amazon customer service.
Currently, I am using my second alkaline pitcher filter and have enjoyed using it so much! As a result of eating acidic foods such as strawberries, pineapple, tomatoes, or anything with acid, I break out. I'm able to eat food with no repercussions after using this filter, since it helps lower my acidic content! I'm so happy! It took very little time to get the filters. It was a pleasure to receive my product and receive the service I asked for!.
