Questions & Answers
Tofu from a standard package will suffice.
Simply turn it until it comes to a complete stop, then turn it off. I usually leave mine to press for a few hours, but it could be done in much less time. Personally, I believe it accomplishes this task admirably.
It should be able to be turned on and off with a simple snap.
I would only do one at a time because it isn't time consuming.

I've always wanted a tofu press but have never committed to purchasing one, preferring instead to use the 'place it under something heavy' method. I finally had enough and went to Amazon to look for tofu presses. The Tofudee drew my attention right away. I took a chance and ordered it, and it turned out to be perfect; everything can be washed in the dishwasher, making cleanup a breeze. It does an excellent job of squeezing out moisture, and you can see how much is draining into the bottom to keep track of your progress. This is a wonderful addition to my kitchen, and it would make a wonderful gift for any vegetarian.
The design of this press is something I really like. I wanted to use a bamboo press, but I kept reading that the wood would warp over time. This has a nice appearance (I chose pink) and is functional in terms of catching tofu water. It's simple to keep in a drawer. It's not ideal to attach the press plate to the actual press, but it gets the job done.
Loves:
- This device is very compact, and the color-br>-br>-br>-br>-br>-br>-br>-b If you really work at it, the devices can press the water out quite well.
- br>Easy to clean and washbr>- The water flows down through the plastic grid and collects at the bottom, allowing you to see how much water has been squeezed out. br>br>Cons:
- Because the round handle and silicone cover are slippery, getting leverage and twisting the handle enough to squeeze the water out is difficult. A firm grip is required.
- I end up unscrewing lids around the round handle of the tofu device with a large round lid gripper, and I usually end up removing the nice silicone ring because it keeps turning without turning the handlebr>- The snaps can be difficult to secure. br>br>This is a nice, easy-to-clean press, but turning the handle to squeeze the tofu takes some effort. Instead of turning a smooth round knob, this device would have a lever, which would provide torque and make it easier.
The fact that it's a nice round circle is a real design flaw. Apart from that MAJOR flaw, the water-catching design is excellent in terms of cleanliness.
After only using it once, I returned it. Because it's a cheap piece of junk, I'm not sure if the press was already broken or if it broke on the first use. I'm reminded of a $1 Chinese garbage gadget by the mechanical part that tightens down on the tofu. It is sloppy and ineffective. Because the tofu clogs the holes in the strainer basket, it will not work. I was using extra firm as well. The water is mostly pushed up over the top and must be poured out to the side. br>br>The lid latches did not grip the container very well. The latches, too, are devoid of hinges. This thing appears to be a piece of junk that would break off or simply stop working after a short period of time. br>br>Overall, this thing is a piece of junk that is WAY overpriced. I wouldn't pay $5 for it, to tell you the truth.
I had to learn how to cook tofu after marrying a vegetarian. This device is extremely simple to operate and has greatly simplified my life. When tofu is properly pressed, it is much easier to cook.
The greatest investment I've ever made. 100% recommendation % Very simple to use.
Who needs yet another item to clutter up their cabinets? It appears that I do. I was tired of all the ways my daughter and I devised to press water out of our tofu after resisting for a while. The Tofudee is much easier to clean, use, and adapt than I had anticipated. I initially encountered some technical difficulties, but customer service was excellent. Friendly, efficient, and personable are just a few of the adjectives that come to mind when I usually set the bar at "acceptable," but they aspire to "excellent. " I intend to order some as gifts once I've compiled a list of tried-and-true recipes to share. (Note: Tofudee also has a recipe section on their website).
