The size of a fluid ounce does not change; it holds 8 fluid ounces. Fill an 8-ounce kitchen fluid measuring cup halfway with water. 1 cup of water is equal to this amount. That is something they believe in. That's why capacity is measured in fluid ounces rather than dry weight, which, yes, tells you nothing.
I'm not sure what it is, but it reminds me of the metal lids on spice jars at the supermarket.
The 8-hole shaker top was included with our set. Other shaker/flip top lid styles did not come with this set.

Selected User Reviews For 8 XLarge 8oz Glass Spice Jars w/2 Types of Printed Spice Labels. Premium Commercial Grade Set: Empty Square Jar, Airtight Cap Chalk & Clear Stickers Pour Sift Shaker by Talented Kitchen (8oz JARS)
The square glass jars and spice label kit exceeded my expectations as one of only 65 Certified Master Chefs in the United States. The jars are not only beautiful, but they are also functional. The two types of labels that came with the package made me very happy. The front of the jars have clear labels, while the lids have round black labels. I can store the spices upright, facing forward, or laying down in a drawer face up, and know exactly what spices are there at a glance, thanks to the two label system. Yes, they will be arranged alphabetically. Great job, Talented Kitchen; you've made me happy, which is no small feat! It's a funny story, but it's true! I recently sold my house, and the buyers stipulated in the contract that I must leave my spice collection behind. I'll be moving into my new house in two weeks, and my spice collection will look even better in my new jars. I'll try to remember to send a photo as soon as I'm able. But first, I need to place another order for each of them!.
I use this product for my most frequently used spices, such as garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, taco seasoning, chili powder, and so on, because the jars are the perfect size. There are no issues here, and I appreciate that they provide labels for both the lids and the jar sides. I'm really happy with how neat and tidy my spice drawer is now. My inner tidier is in a good mood.
These little spice jars are so cute! I needed something to fix my messed-up spice cabinet, and I wanted a uniform look, high-quality materials, and a reasonable price, and I got all of that and more. I place two orders for the 6 oz. (2) sets of the 8 oz. jars jars. br>br>Transferring all of my mismatched spice bottles to these jars was a breeze thanks to the funnel, labels, and (2) shaker style options. br>br>The jars themselves have a high-end feel and appearance. I love how the tops can be customized to match each seasoning or spice, and the labels are fantastic! I really like that you have two choices. On the lid as well as the front face of the bottle, I placed a label. br>br>It seemed like I was looking for the perfect little jars for an eternity, and I'm so glad I found them.
Dry spices, such as dried basil, will not fit in these jars because they are 8 oz (8 ounces by weight). Not by a long shot! Instead, they hold 8 fl oz (8 fluid ounces, or 1 measuring cup) instead. br>br>Ordered these with the knowledge that either the dimensions or the volume/weight description were incorrect. I was hoping for the former after seeing so many references to dried spices and herbs in the description. When I got them, I realized it was the latter. The jars are slightly larger than the typical squarish spice containers found in supermarkets. They're not a good way to keep a lot of dried herbs on hand. br>br>However, they're functional and come with a set of labels, two sets of shaker heads with various hole sizes (that fit under the lids when on), and a collapsible funnel. The funnel is cool, but it's silicone, which means dried spices and herbs will probably stick to it. The set was nice, but the description was misleading, and it didn't meet our storage requirements.
I actually purchased two separate sets. (1) 8 oz jars, set of 8, is ideal for larger quantities of spices. The square glass jars, as well as the shaker lids and caps, are my favorites. The tiny, collapsible rubber funnel was a complete disaster. Even the driest spices cling to the rubber. I made my own hard plastic funnel, which worked fine; perhaps the rubber funnels can be put to other uses. (2) 24-piece 4 oz jar set with racks The jars perform admirably once more, and they are of excellent quality. The same rubber funnel isn't working. The counter top racks, in particular, were a major flaw in this set. They were two different heights and widths (which were nested for packaging purposes). The jars appeared to be jumbled up together, and the flimsy shelving did not support them evenly. In a nutshell, I threw them away. Do not purchase the set with the intention of putting it on the shelf. The jars are fine, but the shelves aren't for you.
I like the square shape because it allows them to be stacked next to one another in the cabinet to save space. The labeling is more than adequate, and I was able to locate all of the names I required. There will be enough left over for future projects. The lids screw on securely, and I'm relieved not to be dealing with cheap plastic that has previously cracked; I'd like to buy even larger sizes in the future.
Depending on how you want to organize it, there are stickers for both the cap and the body. It also comes with a small funnel for transferring the contents of the spice jars, as well as a magnetic measuring/conversion chart!! After much searching, I've finally found the right spice jars that don't take up a lot of cabinet space while still storing a lot of spices: ) I received two boxes with a total of 16 jars.
This larger size is ideal for your favorite spices, such as sea salt, kosher salt, and Himalayan salt, black pepper, my own dried oregano, and brewer's yeast (popcorn). When I buy organic spices, they almost always come in a bag. As a result, this is an excellent method for keeping them clean, fresh, and convenient to use. The shaker tops come with two sizes of holes that snap on under the lid, and the jars also come with two sizes of holes in the shaker tops. br>br>The square shape appeals to me. doesn't take up too much space on the shelf.
