As soon as I received them, I immediately put them to work in my freezers and refrigerators. The freezer/fridge can make it hard to read them when they fog up, but their working capability is still satisfactory. It can be a bit difficult to measure the distance with gauges, but they do seem pretty accurate. It is also nice to get three gauges in one.
When unpacked, 3 of the packages were damaged, one was partially broken but had moving parts. The difference in test temperatures between the 2 survivors was between 1 and 2 degrees. Item that is broken and thrown away is not worth the hassle of returning it or getting.
You can mount these on either the top or side panel of a fridge or freezer or wine fridge to check to see whether the temperatures are maintained. Since these are analog models, they are accurate but do not require batteries to operate.
