NOT! I bought this thermometer a few years ago, and it worked great at first, providing me with everything I needed in a grill thermometer. It's been acting up for the past 6 months or so. Initially, it would simply turn off while taking a reading or be difficult to turn on (a minor annoyance). When I tried to use it, the screen started flashing on and off rapidly, but it eventually worked after I removed the battery and re-installed it. inserting a few times (which is a bigger pain). Currently, the device almost never works - It's difficult to turn on, and it frequently fails to stay turned on for long enough to be useful. br>br>Of course, I've replaced the battery with a new one on several occasions, but this isn't the issue because the behavior remains the same. Something appears to be wrong with the unit on the inside. br>br>I emailed customer service, and Sarah responded within hours, apologizing for the issue and asking for my home address so that a replacement unit could be sent. That's what I did, and I thought it was fantastic. It's fantastic. WRONG. Nothing has happened in three months. Two follow-up emails have been sent. a slew of emails inquiring about the situation, all of which went unanswered. br>br>I don't write bad reviews, but I despise liars and deceptive advertising. So, buy at your own risk because you may not be able to get this company to honor their warranty if you have a problem. Too bad.

I've had a Thermapen for over 20 years and it's been fantastic, but it's starting to fail because it's difficult to get a connection when turning the pen on. As a result, I was on the lookout for a new Thermapen or an alternative, and I decided to give the Alpha Grillers pen a try because it was under $20 on Amazon. I compared it to my broken Thermapen when it arrived. br>br>Measurement of temperature - The two pens were within a degree of each other at meat temperature (130 degrees). The Alpha Griller pen was accurate at room temperature (72°F), but the Thermapen was 3°F off. br>br>Scheduling - Within 5 seconds, both pens had stabilized readings, and within 3 seconds, they were within a degree or two of the stabilized readings. They both did a fantastic job. br>br>Development - Thermapens are available in a variety of colors and patterns. The Alpha Grillers pen, on the other hand, does not. Similar in terms of functionality. br>br>Functions - Backlight, calibrate, hold, and max/min are all features that the Alpha Grillers pens have that the Thermapens (new or old) do not. br>br>Price - The Alpha Grillers pen cost about a third of what the Thermapen did. br>br>Durability - My Thermapen served me well for more than two decades. I'm not sure how long the Alpha Grillers pen will last because it's new. br>br>So far, I'm happy with the Alpha Grillers pen and have purchased a few as gifts.

Overall, the thermometer is exactly what I was looking for and is simple to operate. The probe, however, became loose while being cleaned with a sponge and could not be reconnected. When I washed the thermometer, the probe came loose from the body. One of the wire leads has reached the probe's tip and cannot be rethreaded. The thin copper wire appears to be unable to pass through a seal that must have kept it in place inside the probe. When I try to make arrangements for a replacement, I discover that the return period is only one month. When I go to submit the review, I now see this: "This product currently has limitations on submitting reviews. " This could be due to a variety of factors, such as unusual reviewing activity.

When it came time to replace all of the little Yellow thermometers for myself and the kitchen staff, I was tired of constantly spending so much money and decided to give this one a try. The best part about this thermometer is that it's magnetic as well as Velcro, allowing me to hang it on the side of a refrigerator or anywhere else I want. It's large enough to be seen, and I bought three of them to hang in various strategic locations throughout my restaurant where they'll be most needed. br>There will be no more employees forgetting them at home, no more running them through the washing machine, and most importantly, when the health inspector arrives, there will be a top-notch working thermometer right where it's supposed to be. I used it to discover that my deep fat fryers were calibrated incorrectly, which will save me the cost of three thermometers over the next month and give me at least one more day twice a week before I need to change the oil in my fryers. I've only had them for a week, so I can't comment on their durability or battery life, but in my line of work, batteries are always on hand. That is the last thing on my mind. So far, I'm really enjoying it. br>In my opinion, after more than 40 years of professional cooking, you will not be wasting your money by purchasing this thermometer.

When it became erratic, I tried to reset the device by removing the battery, but it didn't work. I emailed Alpha Grillers customer service and received an immediate response from Sarah, who acknowledged their warranty replacement option, which I chose, and a brand new thermometer arrived on my doorstep within a few days. The new one performs just as well as the old one did before it broke down. If you are unsure about purchasing this thermometer, please contact us.
