It is determined by the height of the 40-ounce cup. There are ten of these straws. As stated in the description, you'll need an inch or more extended from the top of the cup you'll be using, so you'll have to figure that out for yourself.
For the 30 oz., these are ideal. We adore ours.

I bought six of these HuaQi Stainless Steel Straws. Stainless steel capillary tubing with a diameter of 2 mm. The inner diameter (ID) was critical for my application in my case. These have an ID of around 4 for those who are interested. 75 mm. The OD (outer diameter) is approximately 6. 15 mm in diameter and 266 mm in length. I haven't tried them as reusable drinking straws, but I think they'd work well. They have tapered ends and embossed grip bands on one end, and they are well machined. Two cleaning brushes with a nice rounded plastic end are included in the ten-pack. I wish these could have worked for a jewelry project where I needed stainless tubing because they are a great deal on a high-quality product for the price.
I am all for saving the fish who suffer from migraines as a result of plastic straws, or who suffer from partial deafness as a result of those antiquated items. I'm not sure why people are rating these straws one star because they're 'too small,' especially since the measurements are clearly stated in the description. These straws are exactly what they say on the package. They're thin straws, so they're not ideal for anything thicker than liquid (e. g. , ice cream). smoothies and milkshakes).
I bought a 30 ounce tumbler with a curved metal straw a while back. As silly as it may sound, the curved straw interfered with my work setup, so I looked for a straight straw of identical quality, length, and durability to jam down through my straw hole in the lid through my daily packed tumbler filled with house hold sized ice cubes. These straws had the same diameter as those found in most tumblers. THESE ARE EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR! The quality is excellent. There isn't a single thing I don't like about them. This set includes a reusable zip top storage bag that holds all 10 straws as well as the two cleaners that are included. I only needed ONE metal straw (maybe two if I broke one), but at this price, please get them all. You'll be glad you did!.
To drink a smoothie, I'm looking for straws! These are the ultra-thin straws that are used to drink ultra-thin liquids. They're long enough to fit a tall cup, but they're far too narrow in diameter to fit any kind of protein drink or smoothie unless you want to spend a lot of time trying to drink it. They're marketed as smoothie straws, and a picture even depicts a wider straw. It's so aggravating.
The two cleaner/brushes fit and work great, and they are slim, not fat. They are lightweight but strong, long enough for tall cups, and they are slim, not fat. They have no sense of taste. One of the reasons stainless steel is so popular in kitchens is because of this. The cost of ten is incredibly low. They have no sharp edges and are extremely smooth.
I really like these straws. When I saw a video of a plastic straw being removed from a turtle's nose, I swore I'd never use one again. I'm also sharing with my family.
