If you examine the illustration closely, you'll notice that this device can slice garlic in three different ways: A mandolin, a fine grate, and a coarse grate are used in this recipe. Regrettably, I did not look closely enough. The ability to coarsely grate piqued my interest (the coarse grating section is near the grater's grip). I had a similar but superior version - The coarse grater was the only thing available. The issue with having three techniques on a single small device is that it's difficult to isolate your motion to just one of them. I was about to give up and return it when I realized that by grasping it backward and covering the annoying mandolin option (which doesn't work) and the equally annoying paste option (which also doesn't work), I could effectively isolate the coarse grater (which is all I want to use) from the other two options. However, the coarse grater in the back is good, and it's by far the easiest of the three to use because the grating area is relatively large, as long as you hold it backward. It sounds strange, but I'm glad I avoided a return with my work-related items. around.
Last month, it finally gave up the ghost and fell apart. The design is very simple, and the construction is very sturdy. Everything is in order. DO NOT USE THE DISHWASHER WITH IT. Only clean by hand. It inadvertently ended up in the dishwasher a few times over the years. The glossy finish becomes very dull as a result, and the moving parts become clogged with friction. It would most likely still be around if it had never been put in the dishwasher. This time, I purchased two; one for myself and the other for a good friend.
This garlic press had been in my possession for years until I tried to crack a walnut with it. (Don't make the same mistake with yours; it's a garlic press, not a nutcracker. ) Since then, I've been annoyed because I replaced it with a different press. Finally, a new Fante has been purchased. This Fante press does a fantastic job and is very easy to clean. It speeds up the process of using fresh garlic from start to finish. It was also made in Taiwan, so you can be sure it wasn't made with slave labor in Xinjiang. (I usually look for Made in USA to ensure that my purchases do not harm others, but Taiwan has good labor laws and democracy as well. ).
I suppose all of these rubber tubes are similarly effective. br>However, there is no easier or faster way to peel garlic. Put the clove in, roll it around on the counter a few times with the palm of your hand, and presto - you've got yourself a clove. A 100% perfectly peeled whole and intact garlic clove falls from the ground. The traditional smash with the flat of a knife chef method results in the food being smashed and spread all over your fingers and the counter. br>It's so good that once you've tried it, you'll never go back.
The grater/slicer tries to fit too many functions into too little space, and the tolerance, or space, between the slider's edges is too large, allowing large chunks of garlic to slide out. br>br>I had been looking for something like this for a few years after my ACE grater/slicer broke down, and I thought I had struck gold when I bought two. For garlic, I've returned to using a press. Please accept my apologies. br>br> Glenn Logan (br>br>Glenn Logan (br>Glenn Logan (br>Glenn Logan (b.
Garlic is pressed in this manner. If something isn't broken, don't try to fix it. There's a reason why this press's concept and design have stood the test of time. I had another one that was heavier metal, but this one is lighter and does the job just as well. You can cruse garlic without peeling it, and if you're a good cook, you'll be able to clean it up quickly - The red plastic thingy that comes with it isn't even necessary to use.
3 garlic cloves at a time, sliced for cooking So easy. It does come with a grater, but I've never used it. This is a fantastic addition to my kitchen tools!.
I didn't think it worked at first, but then I figured out how to grip the safety guard with my middle finger while grating. THEN I got some nice, even garlic shreds. Do not use dried garlic cloves that have been sitting around for a long time. The best ones are large, fresh ones, and I adore this handy tool. I don't bother with the guard when grating one or two cloves, but I always use it when slicing. It's well-made and cleans up quickly with a small brush and hot, soapy water.
