It would still cost about $10 to buy just the hand. Since the rest of the items cannot be sold without it, they have to be priced at $00 plus shipping. My best wishes to you for the holidays, Renee
Despite not having a cover for the actual unit, it has blades that retract flush to the bottom after a couple of uses. I have used mine for a couple of months now.

Although it does not have a lot of choices for thickness, I got it because it had good reviews and it was small (didn't take up more space than I needed), so I chose it. However, there appear to be two major design flaws in this product. To begin with, the mandolin has a lip at the very end. This means that you will bump into the lip when you slice large, hard foods. of sweet potatoes or cucumbers that you are slicing lengthwise. Basically, you can only get a slice about 4 inches long The piece ended up broken into many The second problem arises because the thickness adjustability mechanism creates a sort of wedge shape, which causes the trailing edge of the fruit or vegetables to get caught between the wedges. Obviously even with an apple (the apple! ), which is nowhere near as hard as a potato, I would slice once and then grab the slice from underneath the mandolin, which would catch The frustration is real. I'm going back to where I was. The Fuji Apple was too thick so it was impossible to slice it lengthwise (even a quartered Apple) without the fruit getting stuck after each slice. I had to do cross slices, which were much Shouldn't be this hard. I returned. Shouldn't be this hard.
The fact that it is all in one piece is pleasing to me Adding a blade width to the slice or julienne cuts will change the angle of the cut. With no need to fumble with changing random disks or searching for a place to store extra disks and a caddy, you aren't juggling with anything. One issue is with the hand guard. It is awkward, doesn't hold on well to a vegetable, and leaves your fingers vulnerable because there is just enough space between the top of the vegetable and the blade as the vegetable is being sliced. The reason for that is CUT THE BUYING PRICE - Additionally, it is recommended that you wear PROOF GLOVES. In other words, it looks like it will be good. This is my first time using it, so I'm hoping it lasts.
dislike things that require work or that need to be taken apart or washed by hand, etc. This mandolin is designed for people like me who appreciate easy, simple gadgets without the fuss while still effectively performing the functions it is designed to perform. The way you cut the radish, I will never be able to do it. The blade does not need to be removed, if you want to clean it, just put it in the dishwasher, and to determine thickness, simply move the button to 1,2,3. Using it with the gripper and the no cry gloves separately (I'm too As a result of purchasing this kitchen gadget, I am more satisfied than I was with my vitamix. I can't believe how cheap it is! The recommendation is highly recommended.
It is VERY IMPORTANT to The provided food gripper does not work well and makes holes in the food. I suggest purchasing glove blade protectors to prevent the food from being ruined. With the gloves, my hands are protected and I can slice or julienne most or all of the food item without my fingers getting cut.
It was a good thing I sliced my finger on an angle, otherwise I would have lost the tip.
Instead of using it to make vegetables, like many people who also bought this product, I used it to make beef jerky that was paper thin. It was hard to cut the beef thinly, so I had to put it in the freezer for a bit until it was firm. The next morning, I had made the best beef jerky I have ever made. Despite being thin, crispy, it still packs a lot of you haven't already guessed, I really like beef jerky, and this is a great way to make.
The high pressure water from the sprayer makes cleanup a piece of cake, especially if you have a sprayer nozzle on your sink. It's fun playing with these thick and thin cutting levels and it makes dishes a whole lot more appealing. When dealing with tall items, like a long zucchini, I feel it is safer to begin with the guard removed at first, but as you progress closer to the unit, use the guard at all times! Take it at your own pace and never be in a rush. These things are said to be After cleaning, the blades are locked. * That is a fantastic.
