All pieces add up to 7" in total length. Here's how big each piece head is: br>Knife for carving – Standard melon head scoop - 5" br> Scooper with a 1" diameter oval head - 1" x 0" 9"br>Scoop with a grooved head - 1" x 0" 9“
It's not something I'd do. Because melons are softer than potatoes, the melon scoop's thin metal may break. What's the point of potato balls in the first place? If you want to make small pieces, cut them into cubes.

This set is fantastic. I've been tinkering with it and trying to come up with new ways to use melons. There hasn't been anything worth writing about in a while. The issue is that I want to "ball" as much as possible. So far, I've only balled watermelon (use the small ones, trust me. ) I'll never get back that hour), cantaloupe, honeydew, peanut butter, cucumber, avocado, butter, ice cream, jello, and - hold your breath - 'A quiche,' says the narrator. With the quiche, my husband drew a line and tucked my baller set away. I'm not going to cook anything until he returns them.
My girls are having a blast with these, which I just ordered. The melons are cut into cute shapes. Grapefruit can be cut with this tool as well. My only concern is the way the handle and the end are connected. There are small holes in the handle, and I'm afraid that filth will collect inside over time (see photo).
I've discovered a plethora of new applications for them. Avocado, cucumbers, and really any soft fruit or vegetable can be rolled into balls and used to top salads. For a party, I'm going to ball up various melons and skewer them. I like how different the shapes are, and one of them even has texture to it. I'm worried about how simple it is to clean them. I've only washed them by hand. I'm worried that two small holes near the bottom of the handle will collect water and become filthy, but I haven't had any issues thus far. They appear to be extremely durable and have performed admirably thus far!.
They are, in fact, made of BPA-free stainless steel and are dishwasher safe. As expected and depicted, there are four of them, each of which is extremely useful for scooping out a variety of large fruits such as melons, watermelons, and other similar fruits using various scooping forms. I'm overjoyed to have found this complete set, and I'm considering purchasing another for a friend as a Thanksgiving gift.
I realize these aren't cheap, but I figured they'd last a long time. They couldn't scoop anything else without bending except ripe watermelon. I'd advise you to spend a little more the first time around!.
I like the quality of these tools, but I only got two melon ballers instead of the three that were advertised. Instead, I was given two melon carving knives, which I did not require.
They are of good quality and have a pleasing appearance and feel. Anyone who enjoys edible arrangements should give them a try.
I love pretending to be a chef in order to prepare fruits for my children.
