It would be nice to have an electric can opener, but I have to admit it isn't as simple as I thought. When I turn it on, I have to wiggle it a bit so it will click on. Sometimes it does not stop when it is done, so I have to pull it off of the can, making a mess. There is a button on top, but I am unsure what it does In other words, it starts and stops without any input from the user. I kinda just let it flop.
Then you can just set it on the can, press the button, and go about your business while it does its job. As of yet, no problems have been encountered.
