Selected User Reviews For Vintorio Professional Waiters Corkscrew - Wine Key with Ergonomic Rubber Grip, Beer Bottle Opener and Foil Cutter (1 Pack)
Because I work as a professional waiter, I open tens of thousands of bottles of wine each year. This wine key is one of my favorites, but it does have a few flaws. My criticisms are unlikely to be significant to the average home user, but they are, in my opinion, unnecessary omissions that prevent this from being both attractive and functional. extremely useful And it *is* a nice-looking wine key, with a solid weight to it. appear to be refined br>br>For starters, there is no groove in the corkscrew. That means there's a lot more squeaking when you twist it into/out of the cork, which I don't understand the physics of. That groove can be found on a lot of decent wine keys. It reduces the amount of noise produced by the corkscrew for whatever reason. Second, the handle is quite large. br>br> It feels good, with a slight rubbery texture that provides a good grip, but it's too thick. For example, the knife's grooves. The corkscrew is set too far back. Because the corkscrew is so flush with the handle, it's nearly impossible to open it with just one finger, and prying the knife part open with two fingers is nearly impossible. The knife has an indent for your fingernail to grab it, but it's stuck so deep in its groove that pulling it out is difficult. If you're a waiter, you're always holding the wine bottle with one hand at the table if you're following formal etiquette. keeping the label in front of the person who placed the order That means having the ability to open the corkscrew with your thumb or quickly pull out the knife to cut the foil with your thumb and/or pointer finger is extremely useful. Adding difficulty to these two tasks With one hand full, it's difficult to execute, resulting in a clumsy wine bottle table presentation. Again, I'm sure this won't bother the majority of users, and it's not bad enough to make me rush out and buy a new wine key, but it does make this one feel like a significant step down from my previous one.
This is a nice wine key that looks and feels good in the hand; it has a nice heft to it, is sturdy, and stylish. The Pros: br>br>The Pros: br>br>The Pros: br>b It works well for cork removal. The spring-loaded dual hinge action is very nice and responsive, and it fits all of the bottles I've tried it on perfectly. It's similar to the Coutale corkscrew hinge in appearance. Black metal is one of my favorite genres. It's fashionable and works well in a variety of settings. It appears to be both classy and edgy, as if I could use it for everything except the most upscale fine dining and get away with it in a dive bar. The worm (which isn't teflon coated or anything fancy) is a good length and cuts through most corks with ease. The disadvantages: br>br> If you're a professional bartender or server, there are a couple of issues that most people will overlook. It's a bit of a pain to use the knife. It's sharp and functional, but it comes out at an odd angle for me, necessitating the use of a second hand (which I dislike). The bottle opener is by far the worst flaw. I believe that function has been sacrificed in favor of style in this case. I find it difficult to catch the tiny bottle opener under about half of the bottles I open. This makes it difficult to open bottles one-handed behind the bar without looking at what you're doing because you have to get everything lined up "just so," which I've never had to do with a bottle opener even slightly larger. Overall, this wine key appeals to me. br>br> It has withstood months of use at the work table and behind the bar, and it is less expensive than many inferior products. If you want a stylish and relatively ergonomic corkscrew, I recommend it to servers or bartenders who serve more wine than beer (due to the faulty bottle opener).
Pros: Simple to work with. It can open almost any bottle because it is so powerful. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. It hasn't lasted after a month in a New York restaurant. The blade has become dulled, and the corkscrew has begun to loosen. It still works, but for the price, I expected it to last a little longer.
Husband was about to return it because it didn't appear to be very user-friendly, but then he crack open a bottle of wine. He thought it was fantastic and that it worked perfectly. He was surprised in a good way. We recently purchased another, more expensive one, which is beautiful but does not function well. This is fantastic! Thank you very much!.
I'm a bartender, and for the past ten years, I've had an almost identical wine key to this. And at work, it just broke off in a bottle. I couldn't believe my eyes. I don't like the super-slim ones because they never feel sturdy enough and aren't as comfortable in my hand, and I'm picky because I open about 50 bottles of wine every night. So my boss dashed into the office and discovered this one on Amazon, which I immediately ordered, and it's perfect.
However, I must say that the screw portion of the device is difficult to insert into corks. Especially cork-based ones. Starting the screw into the cork is quite difficult. Everything works fine once it's installed; my only criticism is that it takes a long time to get used to.
This is also something I would give as a gift. This corkscrew does not have the cheap feel of many others; it is light but sturdy. I have a few other corkscrew openers, as well as an expensive electric corkscrew opener that was given to me and died after a few months. This Vintorio is the one I'm currently using to open the wine in my kitchen. With video instructions and greetings, the follow-up has been fantastic.
This is usually the second result when you type "wine key" into the Amazon search field. IT SHOULD BE AT THE VERY TOP OF THE LIST. It's a fantastic wine key that makes opening bottles of wine simple and painless. I work as a bartender at a well-known steakhouse (where I open a lot of wine). I'll never use a different wine key again.
