Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
THE ONLY FRENCH PATENTED SPRING-LOADED DOUBLE LEVER – The Coutale Sommelier corkscrews are the market's ONLY patented spring-loaded double lever corkscrews. The Prestige by Coutale Sommelier, patented by Philip Bernède, French winemaker and owner of Clos La Coutale winery in Cahors, France, is Coutale Sommelier's most premium model; the Coutale Sommelier brand is the only French-designed and Patented corkscrew.
SOLID STAINLESS STEEL FRAME AND HANDLE – Our Prestige Blackwood by Coutale Sommelier has a solid stainless steel base. From there, stainless steel rivets secure a slab of hand-cut Blackwood to the frame. The result is a corkscrew that is both attractive and functional. The Prestige Blackwood by Coutale Sommelier is as at ease opening 100's of bottles a night as it is on display at home, thanks to its practical lines.
STAINLESS STEEL GROOVED WORM – Coutale Sommelier's Prestige corkscrews have a stainless steel grooved worm. The worm is not only beautiful (it's made out of a single piece of stainless steel), but it's also useful. The worm's groove causes friction between the cork and the worm, resulting in increased tension and a smoother cork pull.
Stainless Steel Serrated Knife – Unlike the dull standard-issue knives on most corkscrews, the Prestige line of corkscrews comes with a Stainless Steel Serrated Knife that cuts the foil cleanly, allowing for an even cut across the foil and a clean removal. With the Prestige Blackwood by Coutale Sommelier, there will be no more torn foils.
OUR GUARANTEE – All corkscrews from Coutale Sommelier come with a lifetime warranty. We stand by our product as the only spring-loaded double lever waiter's corkscrew with a French patent, as well as the most attractive and functional double-lever waiter's corkscrew available. The lifetime satisfaction guarantee applies to all Coutale Sommelier corkscrews. Send us a message through Amazon with any questions you may have, and we will respond as soon as possible.

Questions & Answers

What country does it come from?

I'm not certain! Philippe Bernede, a well-known French designer, created the original. Clos La Coutale is located in the town of Clos La Coutale in the province More information is available at http://www. coutale. com- I didn't notice any country markings on the product, but it is patented and displays the brand "Coutale SOMMELIER Prestige!" on the opener. I got mine from Amazon and it works perfectly! I don't use the knife as a foil cutter very often, but it works fine! I prefer a separate foil cutter because the one in the cork screw is actually a knife, and while it's very nice, it's also very sharp, and if you're not careful, you could cut yourself!

What country does this originate from?

No ideabr>Gave as giftsbr>Beautiful and well-made

Is it effective on corks made of synthetic materials?

On synthetic corks, it works perfectly.

Is it a French product?

The box was thrown away. The corkscrew itself is silent on the subject. The product is of excellent quality.

This isn't Coutale at all
3/5

This isn't a Coutale, so don't bother with it. Unlike the photo, the item I received was not engraved with "Coutale" or any other words. It looked as if it had been thrown together on the cheap. A very thin box, about the thickness of printer paper, just big enough to hold the item in a plastic bag. This isn't even close to being French. It's not worth the trouble. Be careful who you buy from. br>I went with the Stainless Steel option. I promptly returned it via UPS, but my refund has yet to arrive after four weeks. br>BONUS INFORMATION: It cost me around $20 when I purchased it. The price was then reduced to under $15, and it is now $29. 95 - All of this happened in a month's time.

Fake from China- see pics
3/5

I received a Chinese knockoff in the mail. Because of the crooked lever (as shown in the photo), it won't open all the way. There was no double hindge, and it was delivered in a cheap cardboard box with plastic. The canal street in Chinatown is very similar to that of the canal street in New York City.

It takes some time to get used to, but it's very nice
5/5

I've been using an original Screwpull for a long time and find it to be very simple, but after reading about how Philippe Bernede, the proprietor of Clos La Coutale, invented the double-pull, I thought I'd try something different. a corkscrew with a lever. There are a lot of knockoffs out there, so I went with the "real thing. " "It's a good thing I did. " The corkscrew itself is of excellent quality. It's sturdy, has a nice rosewood finish, and you can tell it was made with care. That said, it took a little getting used to, but now I'm fine. The main issue was getting the screw in the middle of the cork because it would go crooked and come out the side at first. There are several good how-to videos online. Simply use the search function to find videos on YouTube. It also includes a knife for cutting the foil, but I prefer to use a foil cutter. Although the Screwpull is easier to use, I find that going through the motions with this Coutale device gives me a sense of accomplishment, and I intend to keep it as my primary corkscrew.

Yes, it's pricey, but it's also extremely well-made and performs admirably! My wife thought I was nuts for spending $30 on a wine opener, but I'd always wanted a good waiter's corkscrew to go with my Monopol ah-hah-hah-hah-hah-hah-hah-hah-hah-hah-hah-hah-hah-hah-hah-hah-ha so (which is required for delicate corks but takes a long time)
5/5

Let me tell you, the Coutale Prestige is a high-quality product that will not let you down. While the $5 ones from the wine store work fine, they are nowhere near as nice or well made as the Prestige; the Prestige will catch your guests' attention right away, whereas the cheap ones will not. While I am not a wine connoisseur, I do appreciate well-made tools and a good bottle of red with dinner. The Prestige is made of solid stainless steel and rosewood, as opposed to the stamped steel of the less expensive models. Once you've gotten the hang of it, you'll be amazed at how well it works and how smooth it is to use. This waiter's corkscrew will most likely last a lifetime, in my opinion.

This is a fantastic little opener
5/5

When my battery-operated garage door opener died after only three years (battery stopped charging), I decided to invest in one that would last much longer - It's not an experience you'll want to repeat if your wine opener breaks down in front of your guests with no backup option. As a result, I went to Amazon and discovered this. Yes, it is more expensive than other apparent knockoffs, but I saw the higher price as an opportunity to get a good, long-lasting opener, so I took a chance. I'm so glad I took the chance. br>The attention to detail, handcrafted in France, was evident; the photos do not do justice to how it feels in the hands. I really like how the foil is cut with a serrated blade; it's a nice touch. br>It worked the first time with very little effort (I've seen waiters open bottles with a similar opener; I'm not sure if it's the same, but once you've seen it done, it's pretty intuitive). The cork screw was sharp and easy to turn, the lever was precise, and it was small enough to fit in my drawer. Saving space is a huge plus in a world of gadgets (like the large battery-operated opener that took up so much space on my counter). I'm very happy.

It's well worth the money; they're far superior to the cheaper alternatives! This Coutale Prestige waiters corkscrew is a beautiful piece that far outperforms less expensive alternatives
5/5

Unfortunately, I had a nice waiter's corkscrew that I forgot to take out of my backpack and had confiscated by TSA at the airport. As a result, I needed to find a suitable substitute. I chose this because of the positive reviews and low price. The wood is real and has a nice feel/finish to it. br>br>This is definitely worth the price. The foil cutter is razor-sharp, making foil removal a breeze. The corkscrew is very easy to insert into corks, and the double lever with push spring is extremely useful. I'd never used one before with a spring, and it makes using the stops SO much easier and smoother. It's a game-changer, to put it mildly. Get one for yourself! br>br>Do yourself a favor and get one of these!.

Last but not least, a good wine opener
5/5

I've always preferred the "Butterfly" style wine bottle openers, but I needed to replace mine after 15 years and couldn't find one that was well-made. That piqued my interest, so I began looking for alternatives. Electricity was not something I wanted to do. I'm not a purist, but something about not being able to control how the screw is inserted into the cork bothers me. br>br>Had a look at this style opener and decided to give it a shot. In my opinion, this is a fantastic decision. My initial impression was that it was considerably heavier and more solidly constructed than I had anticipated. Although the foil cutter is sharp and slightly serrated, you can pinch your thumb against it to grab the foil without being cut. The screw is easily inserted into the cork. The spring-loaded two-stage lever was surprisingly simple to operate. I was concerned that the spring was too stiff and would be difficult to manipulate. Then I used it to open the first bottle, which was incredibly simple. For this application, spring tension is ideal. br>br>I'm still learning how to use this style opener, but I'm not sorry I bought it. This will be a pleasure to use if it holds up, which I doubt.
