Questions & Answers

Where did this corkscrew come from? China is mentioned by one of the reviewers?

"Origin France" is listed under Product Information, so perhaps Amazon will correct this. br>If it's well-made in China, that's fine; however, for $40, Le Creuset should either make it in Europe or reduce the price.

What country does it come from?

The wine key has nothing written on it. However, you piqued my interest, so I went to the Le Creuset website and discovered that it is manufactured in China. Don't be put off by this. This is my all-time favorite wine opener, and it still works like it did the day I bought it. I bought a second, less expensive one from a different brand, and it turned out to be a complete waste of money. I should've bought a second one.

Is the handle walnut, or a close match?

This is an excellent product. It has a pleasant tone to it, in my opinion. Redder than walnut in color. Lighter and less black than walnut, but darker than a medium oak in terms of light and darkness. A white paper towel and a whiskey barrel are depicted in the photo.

Is there a bottle opener on this? I'm looking for a thoughtful present for a server or bartender. ?

Yes, there is a bottle opener on it. It's also one of the best wine openers I've ever had the pleasure of using. I've put away my gas opener, electric opener, Rabbit, and all of my other wine openers in favor of this one. It is both entertaining and useful. I hope this has been of assistance.

Corkscrews from Le Creuset Waiter's Friend, True Fabrications Wood Professional, and Prestige Coutale Sommelier
5/5

Despite the fact that I'm sure there are numerous factories in China producing knockoffs of high-end corkscrews, including zillions of cheap Laguiole knockoffs, it sometimes appears as if there is only one massive corkscrew factory somewhere in China. I believe that these factories also produce the actual name brand corkscrews in many cases, and that as long as they have the tooling in place, they run a few hundred thousand extra alt name, slightly re-branded corkscrews. in addition to styled copies Who knows what will happen. This corkscrew, on the other hand, is an excellent example of clone and original being so similar that you'd think they came from the same place. br>br>The True Fabrications Wood Professional Corkscrew is a near clone of the Prestige Coutale Sommelier with Wood Inlay Handle corkscrew, which is a near clone of the Le Creuset Waiter's Friend Corkscrew, which is otherwise identical to the Coutale Sommelier except for the Le Creuset name and logo stamped on the hinge. The True Fabrications Wood Professional Corkscrew is identical in every way except for the fact that it has a cheaper wood handle that runs the length of the handle area rather than ending in a finished metal tail. Is this significant? br>br>Is this significant? When comparing the three corkscrews side by side, they appear to be identical in terms of detail and finish. Please correct me if I'm mistaken about the crowd source of information - they were made in the same factory Even if that isn't the case, the quality and functionality of all three appear to be similar enough that choosing one is primarily a matter of price - Choose the True Fabrications for $10 (average selling price on Amazon), or the Le Creuset for $35 or the Coutale Sommelier for $20 (both average selling prices on Amazon) if it's a matter of status and you want the glossy wood handle. br>br>However, let's get down to business. Despite my reservations about the concept of a two-stage waiter corkscrew, I must say that these corkscrews perform admirably. The two-stage hinge on True Fabrications Wood Professional, Coutale Sommelier, and Le Creuset Waiter's Friend is spring loaded, making it much easier to two-step through the opening process than the Pulltap / TrueTap types. Similarly, the wide section of the handle that you pull upward on is far more comfortable than the Pulltap type. br>br>I have True Fabrications Wood Professional, Coutale Sommelier, and Le Creuset Waiter's Friend corkscrews, which I use interchangeably. I am very pleased with all three and would recommend them to others, based on a buyer's perception of value for money, trim and finish, and personal taste; the function is excellent on all three. RECOMMENDATIONS ARE AVAILABLE.

You should use it if a sommelier uses it
4/5

I'm in love with this wine key! As a sommelier, I open a lot of bottles of wine every day. It always comes through for me, and the knife is razor sharp. The screw's point is pointed. It always glides right through the cork like butter. The two-step opening took some getting used to, and it was a little tight at first, but it's incredible after a month of use. This wine key is a must-have for anyone working in the food and beverage industry!.

Although this is a lovely corkscrew, It's an exaggeration to say it's better than others
3/5

I have a number of corkscrews in my collection. Some of them cost $7 each. 99 - Some of them were given away at trade shows as freebies. In terms of how it works, this isn't better. It's simply more sophisticated.

The workmanship is poor
3/5

I was expecting a higher level of craftsmanship from a Le Creuset, which is why we pay more. The wood isn't even close to being flush with the rest of the key (as shown in the photos). The corkscrew is also a little too short for my taste, but that could just be personal preference. It will not slip because the corkscrew is tight. Overall, this wine key is slightly above average.

Durable! I've got to say, the box it comes in is pretty cool
5/5

WOW! It now appears to be ten times more impressive and expensive, making it ideal for use as a goft. It has the appearance of being extremely long lasting.

That was a great find
5/5

The purchase was a great success. It has a solid, well-made feel to it. It's also kept in a nice box. As a gift, success.

Fantastic, but proceed with caution
4/5

Really nice, but after a month, one of the wood pieces has begun to come loose.

The Best Corkscrew in the Traditional Style
5/5

Wonderfully crafted When it's all said and done, this is the best traditional corkscrew I've ever owned. It looks great, feels solid in your hand, and screams high quality.
