If you cut it on the lip, the answer is no. The blade is too curved to make a flush contact, but you can cut the foil straight down and remove it entirely if you cut it like I do. If that's the case, then yes, it cuts. The benefit of this screw is that it will never break! Trust me.

With a minimum of effort, it works well.
Excellent product; it is now my favorite, and it makes a nice souvenir.
As a sommelier, I'm always on the lookout for a wine key that simply works. This is a bargain at ten dollars. The knife and key can both be used with one hand.
This is a fantastic wine key. I work in a restaurant and am responsible for opening several bottles of wine each night. The double hinge is a fantastic feature. I frequently receive complimentary wine keys, but I prefer to pay for this one.
Every day, I uncork bottles. I've tried a lot of wine openers, and this is by far the best. It is both inexpensive and excellent. And it has outlasted them all. Without a doubt, the best. Simply go ahead and purchase it.
For the money, it's the best on the market. I received a recommendation from a Sommalier.
