I don't smoke pipes, but I do own this lighter, which I believe is too powerful; it gets extremely hot, and depending on the material of the pipe, it could even melt it. However, I believe it would burn the tobacco too quickly for it to be enjoyable. Since I don't smoke tobacco pipes, I could be wrong, but it's far too strong to use to light cigarettes. It's an excellent lighter for starting fires, which is exactly what I do with it.

Well, I used it to light a rope on fire, so it was quite hot! That was just the low flame, by the way. It works similarly to a butane lighter but has a larger flame field. I'm sure it's not suitable for welding, owing to the lack of a temperature control system. I hope this information is useful.

It worked perfectly until I dropped it; it only fell a few feet and then only dribbled a small flame. br>br>We are delighted to inform you that: br>br>As a result of my review, the company contacted me. I hadn't contacted them because I had just finished writing my review. This had never happened before, and it was such a pleasant surprise when they offered to replace it for free. br>br>I wish all Amazon companies were as proactive with their customers as this one is.
It was simple to fill and use. Perfect for popping bubbles in my acrylic pours and pouring resin.
In less than a month, it ceased to function properly. It worked fine at first, but after I refilled it, clicking on it became unreliable. It does the low flame that I set it to, but it also does a high flame that stays on until I click several times, at which point it either turns off or slowly reduces. Continuing to use it does not appear to be safe. br>br>While there are many positive reviews, many of them appear to be for a different torch. It's the black-handled one, not the white-handled one, that I have.
When you can find a fuel tip that fits it properly, this is an excellent working torch. It comes with a few, as do the butane cans, but I can't seem to get a good connection for the filler valve out of the 25 or so I have, including the ones that came with it. I carefully read the instructions, watched some videos, and even went out and purchased several different fuel filler cans, all of which wasted a lot of gas trying to fill this thing. I have a couple of other torches that don't have this problem. I've tried a few different fuel brands and they all work fine on my other torches, but I can't seem to get anything to fit securely enough over the valve on this one so that I can fill it without a lot of fuel leaking out. Some are worse than others, but when filling this torch, they all leak. It's hard to tell when it's full because of this. In any case, once you've gotten some fuel into it, it's a great machine. Good flame control; you can turn it off or on for safety, or keep it burning continuously without holding the trigger. It has a nice flame pattern and quickly heats up. You can light solder it, but be cautious around sensitive materials because it will instantly melt and/or burn delicate items and could easily set nearby flammables on fire. If it had a better fuel filler valve that worked with all standard fuel sources, I would give it five stars.
If I could, I'd return it, but you can't ship it anymore because I filled it with butane. br>1) There is no fill line, so it's impossible to tell how much gas you have; however, the directions warn that overfilling could result in an overpressure explosion; however, how can you avoid this if you don't know how full it is? br>2) When bruleeing, it's extremely difficult to maintain a small blue flame. The flame is large and orange in color, and it is difficult to control. br>br>I bought this for Thanksgiving dessert because creme brûlée is my specialty, but I couldn't bring my torch because we were visiting family out of town. I wish I'd just gone to any Home Depot and bought a welding torch. The second star is for the fact that I did, technically, brûlée successfully, though it was a pain in the neck. br>br>The third star is for the fact that I did, technically, brûlée successfully, though it was a pain in the neck.
The process of filling the torch with butane is the only drawback and the reason for only four stars. It's a clumsy procedure that's far more chaotic than it needs to be. Use it after waiting at least 30 minutes after it has been filled. This one didn't bother me, but because butane leaks and vapors are everywhere, it's best to be safe. This process will be improved at some point in the future.
I place a high value on customer service. Thank you very much. br>br>I purchased this in January and have only recently been able to fill it with butane. I filled it properly, only pressing down for two seconds to fill it because I didn't want to overfill it. I immediately heard hissing and noticed that the torch was leaking butane. There is no reason for this to be happening because I did not overfill the torch in any way. The return window, of course, is now shut. As a result, I'm left with a broken torch.
However, it was an excellent purchase. My BernzO has gone missing. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a replacement because I'm sure I'll be able to find the old one. This is an outstanding deal. It's not as delicate as the BernzO, but it's still a good fistful. It fills just like the other with its injector and volume control and start are dead simple and work 100% of the time. My only criticism is that the plastic tooling isn't as good as it could be, and the grip is a little slick. (a paint fix that is rubberized) Jim.
