The torch I bought is labeled Iwatani.
Is a notched rim required on the refill? I bought another brand and it won't sit down tight enough to torch.
A 90-degree twist is about right. in the same manner in which you set it up
Without a doubt. The butane can's nozzle contains the sealing mechanism. It will work with any butane can.

This torch is made in Japan and is the best in every way; it is constructed of high-quality materials and is extremely durable. After purchasing several different brands, all of which are still available on Amazon, this one finally worked and didn't stop working after a month because I use the torch frequently, about 5 to 6 hours per day and 1 to 2 hours straight whenever I work with it. After three months of use, this Iwatani torch is still working like it did the first day. I strongly advise you to read this and only this. Don't bother clicking through to see what else is available.
I've had one for three years and use it so much that I bought a new one for the truck to take camping trips.
I enjoy lowering the heat on the flame so that I can caramelize a cream brule without burning any of the sugar. It's not just about lowering the output; it's also about controlling the flame's shape. One method is extremely focused and precise. It's diffuse and not as hot on the other hand. It was ideal for what I needed.
It's great for finesse, but not so much for bigger jobs like roasts. It would be nice if there was a grilling attachment.
The vast majority of these are garbage, but this one appears to have received positive feedback.
This is unquestionably a high-quality item.
After sous videing the stakes, use it to sear them.
I mostly used it to make ramen toppings at home. That's exactly what I was looking for!.
