Questions & Answers

Is there a small triangle indicating 2 or 5 plastic at the bottom of the container? Only 2 and 5 are food-safe and re-usable, in my opinion. ?

What a fantastic query! This classification refers to how the product should be recycled rather than whether or not it is safe to eat. Please rest assured that our product has been independently tested and verified to be FDA approved as well as BPA free. br>br>The recycling symbol 7 denotes that the item does not belong in any of the other recycling categories. As a result, most curbside recycling programs are unlikely to accept it. Acrylic, Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), Nylon, Polycarbonate (PC), and the bioplastic Polylactic Acid (PLA) are among the plastics represented by the 7 recycling symbol.

Is this something that can go in the freezer?

Mine are kept frozen. For the next four years, there will be no problems. months and a half It really works. It fits perfectly in the freezer's door.

What is the number on the bottom for plastics recycling?

"Number 7 plastics are used to make baby bottles, sippy cups, water cooler bottles, and car parts." I just want to thank you for your question because it saved me from buying this product: BPA can be found in polycarbonate plastic food containers, which are frequently labeled with the letters "PC" on the bottom by a recycling label 7. Some polycarbonate water bottles claim to be "non-toxic." However, trace amounts of BPA may migrate from these containers, especially if they are used to heat liquids, due to 'leaching' for minimizing plastic taste or odor. br>A new generation of biodegradable plastics has been developed. Polycarbonates are being phased out in favor of plant-based polymers such as corn starch. These are also included in category 7, which may cause consumer confusion. The initials "PLA" are found near the recycling symbol on the bottom of these compostable plastics. "Compostable" is another term for it. "br>Unless the PLA compostable coding is present, plastics are not to be reused. It's best to stay away from 7 plastics whenever possible, especially when it comes to food for children. Plastics with the recycling labels 1, 2, and 4 on the bottom are the safest to use because they don't contain BPA. Because PLA compostable plastics are not recyclable, they should be thrown in the compost bin rather than the recycle bin. " Despite the fact that it claims to be BPA-free, I am skeptical.

AS IT IS NOT BUG PROOF, IT IS NOT AIR-PROOF
3/5

TIGHT! BUYING FOR AIR IS NOT A GOOD IDEA. FOOD STORAGE IS AN EXTREMELY DIFFICULT THING TO DO These canisters are said to be airtight, according to Progressive. That's not the case. In July 2017, I purchased this canister, along with the Keeper set and several individual pieces, for my various organic flours, sugars, baking soda, baking powder, chocolate chips, and other baking ingredients, in addition to the Keeper set. I recently discovered that a bag of rice I bought from WalMart was infested with pantry moths, which has wreaked havoc on my pantry, including the paper goods; This was the first time I'd heard of them- What an ordeal! I was shocked to find moths and their cocoons inside EVERY ONE of these canisters while sorting through food to discard. It's not like one of the seals has failed. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM WAS TESTED AND FOUND TO BE CONTAMINATED! I threw away all of the containers and their contents. I despise thinking about how much money was squandered on containers and food because of their claims. I'm on the lookout for airtight storage containers once more, but this time I'm going to put their claims to the test. This was an extremely costly lesson that I will not repeat.

It doesn't keep bugs out, which is why I bought it in the first place: to keep bugs out of my food

Despite the fact that the lids were securely fastened, ants quickly found their way into this container. Totally let down!.

The formula is ideal! Because I despise tin cans, I purchased this for baby formula
5/5

This is the ideal size to accommodate two people. The powdered formula comes in 29-ounce cans, and the leveller is fantastic. The airtightness appears to be excellent. To keep the scoop in place, I used command hooks on the front. I believe in making things as simple as possible, so I tell anyone who will listen!.

Both the good and the bad are present
3/5

This is in the middle of "just okay" and "I like it. " In the end, you can't put an entire bag of flour or sugar in this because the leveler won't work if it's too full. Also, if it's overflowing, you must open it with extreme caution because the flour/sugar will accumulate on top of the leveler and spill out when the container is opened. If the leveler had been removable, I would have simply removed it and tossed it into a drawer until I had used up about half of the contents. (Even better, remove it and store it in the container's lid. ).

I was let down
3/5

I was let down. In a kitchen store, I purchased something similar (same brand, different line of containers) and they (flour, sugar, etc. ) Brown sugar) was of far superior quality. I would have expected a consistent level of quality. These are more difficult to open and close, and the plastic appears to be of inferior quality. As I previously stated, I am disappointed because I adore the others - I had used them in my winter home and assumed I would be ordering the same item for my summer home. Instead, opt for this company's Progressive ProKeeper line if you want a high-quality item for a reasonable price. The Prep Solutions containers were returned to me. They claimed they could open the Prep Solutions containers with one hand, but this was not the case. I had a hard time opening them with two hands. The ProKeeper has a great seal and is a breeze to open and close. I placed an order for a ProKeeper.

After a few years of use, the disk has become moldy! I bought this in 2014 but didn't use it right away; I believe I started using it in 2015 and had no issues; it appeared to work as expected. I purchased a new bag of brown sugar in early 2017 and re-filled the container. wet the stone and replace it on the top rubber holder The disk was all moldy with black spots when I opened the container last night, and the rubber where the disk was stored had started to disintegrate and crack. It was moldy and 'hairy' as well. Perhaps I made a mistake by putting the wet disk back on the holder instead of on top of or in the middle of the sugar. Since the mold has spread and the rubber has begun to degrade. It's just the thought of using it with a fresh bag of sugar that makes me happy. ugh. I'm not sure if I'll use it again because the mold is revolting. I'm also not a fan of the hinged lid. I use the Sistema storage containers for flour and powdered sugar because they have separate lids and two lock clasps. This Progressive brand of brown sugar was purchased specifically for that purpose. Now, I think it was a poor decision.

Easily accessible - No more lumps of hard brown sugar (rating change - (For more information, see the UPDATE section at the bottom of this page
3/5

) Over the last few years, brown sugar packaging has improved slightly. When brown sugar was first packaged in zip-top bags, it was a huge success. At first, locking resealable plastic bags appeared to be a winner - However, I soon discovered that sugar granules get stuck in the zip-lock bag's channels. It should be locked and jammed. Also, if the kiddo or my husband got into the sugar bag for adding to oatmeal, they didn't always bother to empty the sugar out of the zip-top bag. resealing it with care So, when I went to get the brown sugar to bake cookies the next time, what did I find? a collection of different-sized items sized brown sugar lumps or, even worse, a rock-hard lump of brown sugar Sugar in a hard bag. br>br>As a storage alternative, this Prepworks brown sugar canister is ideal. A 2 pound bag of brown sugar fits easily into the canister, leaving enough room at the top for a measuring cup to be scooped in and packed against the sides. It's difficult to cram a cup tightly. Because I can't use a full-sized measuring cup in the canister, I usually scoop with a half-sized one. smaller than a cup size br>br>Before using, soak the small terra cotta disc in water for 15 minutes, and then push it down into the middle of the brown sugar, according to the directions. This caught me off guard. I assumed the damp disc would be placed back on the clip on the underside of the lid based on the pictures on Amazon's product page, but that wasn't mentioned in the instructions I received. The clip was only supposed to be used for storing the disc in between uses, according to the instructions. The fact that the canister is BPA-free appeals to me. The disc, however, cannot be washed because it is free. The canisters can be stacked if you have more than one, and they appear to be well-made and sturdy. Is there anything else? Because I no longer hear, "Hey, Mom, where's the brown sugar?" on the pantry shelf, it must be much more noticeable. "br>br>It only has a couple of minor flaws for me. One, while it is simple to unlatch, there is no sense of actually re-latching. If you close it, it latches. There was no snap or click. Don't get me wrong: I think it's great that you're doing this. It is possible to close it. It simply *doesn't* feel that way. Second, the sugar directly surrounding the terra cotta disc turns white; what does this mean? br>br>UPDATE: br>br> My 4-star rating is being lowered. from a four-star rating to a three-star rating star. Before writing my review, I had been using this brown sugar keeper for a few months. However, after a few weeks in the heat and humidity of summer, the sugar directly surrounding the terra cotta disc has not only turned white as I mentioned before, but it has also become quite hard, and there are no more random little hard brown balls of sugar in the container; When I pull the disc out, it's coated on all sides with about 1/2-inch thick layer of wax. a quarter-inch of hard *white* sugar br>br>While I still like the actual container, I'm going to experiment with it without the soaked disc for a while to see if the sealed container can keep the brown sugar nice on its own.
