I filled the container with soap and water and secured the lid so I could shake it and clean it before using it. Fortunately, I was near the sink when water leaked from the lid near the hinges. When you turned it upside down, a steady stream of water poured out of the hinge. This occurred with each of the three items I purchased.
This container was one of my favorites. Until I discovered that pantry moths had gotten under the lid and were nesting inside; they had somehow gotten past the gasket, so it wasn't quite as airtight as advertised (at least for me). Is it possible that some pasta got stuck in the seal and messed it up? To be sure, I'll give it another shot, but this time I'll be more cautious. My preference is for glass jars with a tight seal and grip mechanism. br>br>What was it about this container that drew me in? Perfectly sized for spaghetti, linguini, and other pastas, and easy to open latch. The 'portion size' feature was an interesting concept, but it did not work for me. The pasta would frequently clump together and refuse to pour. But it didn't bother me in the least. This is a great container if you don't mind pests! If you're one of them. Perhaps you'll be luckier than I was. But I just wanted to let you know.
Good- looking, he appeared to be in good shape, and he seemed to be in a good mood. I stuffed it with pasta and stowed it away in my pantry. It had cracked and broken by the time I needed it! Because there isn't much going on in my pantry, it's possible that it was defective. In here, it's pretty quiet. The drawer is easy to open and close, and everything is visible. I'm extremely disappointed! For a product that only lasted a few months, the price was way too high. Returning is no longer possible. I should have started writing sooner.
I've tried the "hole" style spaghetti measuring devices, and they're a complete pain to work with. Notice how there isn't a single video showing how to use one of these devices with a box of pasta as the starting point? This device performs admirably: br>br>1) Place your hand over the opening and lower yourself. br>2) shack the opening gently to fill it with spaghetti. br>3) take a handful of spaghetti and tilt it back up. br>4) pull out the appropriate amount of spaghetti. br>br>Very straightforward, no spills, and simple to use. I strongly advise you to do so.
I have a few of these and enjoy them a lot. I did not purchase them in this location. I only purchased this one from Amazon, and I believe the price is excessive. These aren't big containers, but they fit nicely in a cabinet, which is exactly what I was looking for. They can be sterilized in the dishwasher, but I don't use it. They lock shut to keep the air out, but I didn't test them for leaks, and I've read that they aren't completely airtight. These are ideal for my needs; I adore the sets, and this piece is not included in any of them.
I'm in love with them; I bought two and will need three or four more. It comes with a measuring cup and simple rice cooking instructions for various types of rice, which I really like.
I came across this product and decided to try it. I was looking for something to hold my brown rice when I came across this on Amazon and decided to purchase it. I must admit, it does the job and fulfills the expectations. Maintains the freshness of food by keeping it airtight. It also helps that it is attractive on my kitchen counters. It is, however, overpriced in my opinion. On Amazon, I noticed that a different brand sells it in a set for a lower overall price per item ratio.
I have a few, but they crack and break when dropped.
