It's a big animal, so I don't have any experience cooking it, but I imagine the bottom half would be large enough.
The water level in the base can never be seen because it is enclosed.

I like the fact that this steamer works quickly and is easy for me to use. Because there was no indication when the food was done, I steamed a great deal of vegetables. That sounds easy enough to add, wouldn't it? This has been mentioned in other reviews as well. While I would have given a five-star review, being time constrained prevented me from doing so.
Previously, I had a SunBeam steamer I loved very much, but the main difference between this one and my old one is whether or not it "dings" when it is finished. It is extremely useful to have that "heads up" warning as I am not a very good cook and I miss it so much. As a whole it is compact it isn't overly large, and it's large enough that it can cook food for one or two people in one pot, or for a large party in.
If you don't, it will not move towards "0. ". When the timer is not moving, you need to put some pressure on the knob toward zero to make it go. There is no bell on the steaming timer, so I have to set up a microwave timer to tell me when it is done steaming. There's a bell even on an egg timer from the Dollar Store.
There's plenty of room for improvement, at least in terms of meeting The opinions that I share regarding the topic are not intended to be blasé. There is not much to like about this electric steamer, but I can't pretend to be enthusiastic about it either I have used this steamer mostly to steam crab legs and various varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables. It is very effective for steaming leafy greens, for example, but I had imagined steaming would mean much faster cooking than boiling, which has not always been the case, but there is the bonus that the water does not leach out so much of the "good stuff. " during steaming. If I were to share with you what are [to me personally] a list of gripes, or at least perceived 'shortcomings' of this unit, they are as follows It would be nice if the session completion indicator was audible rather than only visual. Once again, I must confess that I was wanting something a bit more "on-the-mark" It consists of There is food being prepared to cook) It isn't my favorite type of disc to have the small series of punched holes in it There should have been holes across them * I'd rather have used discs that were mesh or wire-like so that the steam produced can use maximum volume without having to 'squeeze through' a few Whenever I handle the clear plastic, I always play it with an extra bit of caution because of the fear that they would likely prove very delicate, so I never have to find out in some unfortunate mishap just how fragile and weak the material may This is a summary of what I wrote in It would have been nice if there had been an indicator of some sort showing the water level. I am not saying that buying "online" isn't a good idea It consists of Even though it is "cheap," it is only reasonable to expect so much, considering the simplicity of the For some "positives", here are some Even though its design and fit immediately leave you with a gut expectation, but despite what you expect, all of the condensation that is produced inside (except for what leaks out through the lid vents) remains inside, and [2] how easy it is to clean In the review I am writing, I notice that this EXACT SAME UNIT is listed as being branded by "OVENTE" with Amazon Order Number ASIN B0831SCHG8. I'm not sure if one or the other is involved in any sort of "knock-on" There are no details on whether this is an "off" deal or perhaps part of some "licensing" deal. It is only for the present time that I find that this particular steamer (the "NESCO") can be purchased from a limited few outside vendors, who, the last of which just so happens to be offered for almost the exact same price as.
You can sometimes transfer flavors from one container to another if you're steaming both at once. As such, don't steam foods with strong flavors with anything else, but it's still a great deal.
In addition, NESCO had a steamer with a removable disc in the bottom bowl, as well as a steamer that had a single bottom bowl. While the bottom bowl on Amazon's site looks like it is one piece, the bottom bowl you receive is two-pieces, and the bottom disc can be removed. This is my third purchase of this steamer (not all from Amazon) and I've noticed that the bowl with the removable disc wore out faster. It's a great steamer, but if you use it twice a day every day, like I do, it breaks down after 12 to 18 months, so it's advisable to replace it. purchased the insurance for a period of 4 years this time. My next purchase will be for a You may have to wait for the next one too. It gets a 3 out of 5 star rating since no one reads 4 or 5 star reviews. This will last for a long time. If you are a diehard food steamer users (more than once a day), you should purchase the four-year insurance plan.
