Having a pair of (silicone) tongs available for taking the eggs out of the machine and putting them immediately in cold water is a good idea. One of the reasons I bought this was to easily cook eggs. Pros include the fact that it works well and is easy to use. Despite having an awful shrill alarm, it doesn't shut off until you unplug it - it only sounds like the end of the world! It was impossible to tell if I would be eating breakfast or escaping zombies when I heard it for the first time. Additionally, I was part of a Zoom meeting for the first time. This is a good product, but I don't have to steam a dozen eggs at one time. In any case, cooking can be uneven when fewer than a dozen are used. If I didn't cook 12 eggs at a time regularly for a couple of weeks, I wouldn't buy this again.

I like the performance of this steamer. It is better than using a pot with water for medium or hard boiled eggs, and I have used it only for those. Use distilled water instead of hard water if you want to avoid hard water deposits for easier cleaning. I would like to point out that after steaming eggs, it is difficult to remove them from the tray into a bowl of cold water due to heat and the lack of a place to grab the tray. A pair of tongs is what I recommend.
