We found a crack in the crock when we checked it closely with food juices. Therefore, the higher temps are the likely cause of the crack in the crock. This crockpot does not meet our recommendations solely based on our own experience.
As well as my other two slow cookers, a 4 quart and a 6 quart, I decided to buy an 8 quart slow cooker, as sometimes I need to prepare larger quantities for a large gathering or to prepare and freeze a meal before it is eaten. Slow cookers today tend to come with a lot of features, such as a timer, that I did not need. As for what I got, I am happy with it. Food can be kept in it for a long time, as it is large. When it is full, I actually have a hard time lifting it, so I usually empty the slow cooker into a package if I am freezing or have someone else carry it if we are going somewhere where I need to keep The two things that made me rate it a 4 out of 5 are listed below. There is one, because Crock Pot no longer includes the covers we used to get for transporting the crock pot and keeping the food warm. Although I could buy the carrying case separately, I have been spoiled thus far in terms of slow cookers that come with packing cases.
