Last year, I spent $13 on the model I bought before. I found it on Amazon here for 56 cents. For what is basically the same item, it would be $41 less. As of now, I do not see much difference between the pulp diffuser and this one. If that money could be spent on something else, I would choose to do so. I'd like an orange a lot!
The answer is yes. A lifting mechanism is on the motor base. The base is plastic.
Apparently, the box it came in stated that it was BPA-free.

The juicer we had previously is from the late 70's or mid 80's and was a Hamilton Beach. We had to purchase a replacement piece because one of our pieces was lost. I am writing about this B&B All our requirements were met in the D model, except that it was not durable. There is truth to the adage that you get what you pay for Five months were all it lasted before it broke. With just a small twist to the left, the bowl locks into the base. To unlock the juicer from the base, I grabbed the handle and did a slight twist to the right, and around the base, the side of the bowl developed a crack. I cannot recommend this product based on my experience. It had already shown signs of fatigue when the motor would make a grinding noise when juicing, as if gears were slipping inside. The materials used to construct the product should have been stronger to prevent this from happening.

There's nothing short about it it's over 2 feet in length. The citrus juicer that I own has a lot to say. Is only $16 going to get me the absolute best product? Not at all. In any case, it works. A part I found surprising was the fact that the pulp strainer and cone detach easily. You don't need to worry about pulp getting stuck there and causing mold problems. That the container holds 32 oz. is a nice touch. With four large oranges, I was able to get 22 oz. In addition to reversing, the cone also rotates. Unless you are using only one piece of fruit, don't expect to have done something in 5 minutes since it is only 30 watts. One thing I found irritating is that I had to dump the pulp of each orange after every 1/2 to 1 orange. Without getting clogged, it can only hold a small amount of water. This is a great alternative to bottled orange juice for someone on a budget, or for those who enjoy fresh oranges over bottled stuff. There is no problem with the noise. Eventually, maybe I'll be able to get one that holds more pulp, strains more, is quieter, and has a higher power output.
I am concerned about the durability of the product. Out of the box, the juicer works well. We wanted to get rid of the 230V up converter on the counter top that we had been using for 20 years with a Braun (imported) that was still working, but citrus acids were causing the plastic to corrode after 20 years. On my first observation, the weight of the new motor base is less than 1/3 the weight of the old one, and the noise is indicative of a sloppy all-plastic gearbox rather than the full metallic one of Based on normal usage, I am pretty confident the device will not last 5 years. I used to have to use a measuring cup to capture the juice since my old one did not do this. It does not bother me at all that it is too loud. Neither of those issues is too serious, but I think there are two things that could be improved. Often times, a little bit of the fruit on the edge of the oranges I used had a little flesh on it. When I did that, I tried to hold the rotating bit close to that part, which worked well most of the time. Some juice would also dribble down the center to loosen things up. The rest of the machine is awesome as well and doesn't take up much space. Cleaning it is also very easy. Thanks to this safer process, I am now getting much healthier orange juice with all the many vitamins and without all the sugar and synthetic In addition to adding the pulp to the juice, I added the pulp above the machine to boost the fiber content.
My mind is getting burned out by poorly rated and underwhelming electronics I buy on Amazon. It can feel like shopping at Best Buy (which, of course, is terrible, the whole store is fill with junk Chinese electronics). This was a pleasant surprise when I realized I got something that did the job it was supposed to, and the Juicer impressed me. Each so often, I go on a juice fast to help me cleanse my body. One frustrating aspect of the fast that most people don't know about is the fact that you have to juice lemons. In addition to being time consuming, it hurts my hand and triggers irritation when I try to clean it There is no doubt that this device is AMAZING. I don't know what the negative reviews are complaining about. When I put the money into it, I have been incredibly impressed with how well it has worked for me the first five or six times.
