I have two ice cream makers in my kitchen: Lello (pricey and 20 years old!) Aucma and ) are two of the most well-known characters in the world. br>br>Because the Lello has a built-in compressor, we were able to make as many batches of ice cream as we wanted because the mixing bowl remained cold. The Aucma, which was considerably less expensive than the Lello, demanded that the mixing bowl be pre-heated. I had to keep it frozen for at least 8 hours (though 24 hours gave the best results) and was only able to make one. Ice cream made in two batches. Both cleaned up quickly, but it wasn't exactly practical. Any fruit pieces thrown into the mixer eventually turned to mush, which was not ideal for someone like me who prefers to have larger pieces of fruit meet his or her mouth every now and then.
