Questions & Answers

What is the material used to construct it?

This one is made of regular plastic, similar to acrylic. There is also a ceramic version, which is heavier and leaves no taste in the coffee (for those who are sensitive to the flavors of paper filters and plastic).

Is there no BPA in the plastic?

What exactly is included in the package? Are there any filters that you can try out? A scoop?

There are no filters on this cute scoop. I began with a 50-pack from Amazon and gradually increased to 100. Flat- Melitta filters with a flat bottom don't sit well, but they'll do in a pinch if you squash them down.

How big is the bottom circular part's diameter? I'm planning on using it with a "slim" travel thermos. Thanks! ?

The size of the circle is 2 inches in diameter.

A few misunderstandings are being dispelled
5/5

This brewer is incredible, and it is one of only two industry standards. I'd like to clear up some misconceptions about "how it makes coffee" that I've seen in reviews of this brewer. br>br>You make the coffee, not this brewer! br>br>So the quality of the coffee you put in and how you pour the water over it determines the quality of the coffee that comes out the other end, but this brewer does have some differences from other brewers that allow you to make coffee differently, and I'll go over a few of them now.
- The V60, for example, has a large hole in the bottom, which means that when you pour water over ground coffee, the brewer provides no resistance, slowing down the brew. This means that if your brew is taking too long or too short, you need to adjust the coarseness or fineness of your coffee's grind. Do you purchase pre-made items? coffee that has been ground? The Kalita Wave, a flat-bottom dripper with three tiny holes in the bottom that slow your brew so you don't have to worry about a perfect grind, is another industry standard. The V60's g ribs create a space between the paper filter and the brewer, preventing it from suctioning to your cup or serving glass.
- There are cheaper knockoffs of this brewer (such as the Bialetti) that may perform similarly; however, this one is made better and with a lot more care in how it handles your brew. Is it really worth the extra money? That is entirely up to you; as for me, I prefer the real thing, the same thing that everyone else uses and that I am confident will help me make a good cup of coffee. To summarize, I would recommend this brewer to anyone who wants to make better coffee but is willing to put in a little extra effort (and money). If that's your goal, I'd suggest watching some pour over videos on YouTube; my favorites are by James Hoffmann and Chris Baca. br>If you don't want to waste time or money trying to make the best cup possible, I'd suggest going with something simpler, like the kalita wave. br>br>That's my two cents, have a great day:.

After reading an Amazon review of camping coffee makers, I decided to purchase this coffee dripper. It was a letdown the first time I used it to make a cup. Because it's a round dripper, the bottom has only one hole. There is a significant void. That first cup was made in the same way that I had previously made coffee in drippers. I filled the cone with coffee grounds and set it to drip, but because the hole was so large, it just poured through without picking up much flavor. However, the dripper's instructions state that you should pour slowly over the grounds. I also had to use more coffee than recommended because the recommended amount didn't provide enough surface area for the water to be poured on. Overall, I prefer drippers with a flat bottom filter that drips slowly through three or four small holes to this one, which uses a cone filter and drips through one large hole. br>br>I had a few quarrels with the reviewers who were supposed to be camping experts. A mesh filter system was their first choice, but cleaning a mesh filter while camping requires a lot of water. While 'a lot' is a relative term, when camping, water is at a premium, and you can't afford to waste any (I'm not talking about living in a 40-foot trailer). (It's a 40-foot RV with sewer and water hookups that's larger than most people's apartment. ) This coffee dripper has a paper filter that can be easily discarded, and the dripper is rinsed after each use.

I finally gave in and bought a Hario V60 after years of avoiding it. I figured why not, given how inexpensive plastic drippers are. I wish I had purchased one of these all those years ago. br>br>I was a huge fan of the Kalita Wave 185 and thought it was the best there was. An Aeropress, a Technivorm, a Kailta, and a Chemex are among the coffee machines I own. After becoming dissatisfied with their filters (expensive, difficult to find, and deforming during shipping), I decided to give the Kalita 185 a shot. br>br>I got the plastic one, as recommended by everyone, and I liked it because it was also the cheapest option. Anyway, when I switched from a stainless steel Kalita 185 to a plastic Hario V60, I noticed that the V60 had a lot more flavor. The filters are easier to find, slightly less expensive, and arrive flat. I couldn't be happier because the V60 has become my daily jam.

It makes great coffee, but after only three months of daily use, it began to develop hairline cracks
3/5

I have a Hario pour over in clear plastic, size 02, that I purchased on May 23, 2020. I've been using it on a daily basis for the past two weeks. I've been using it four times a day since I got it and I adore the way it makes coffee. It's simple to use, clean, and looks nice, but we discovered hairline cracks in the plastic this morning, which disappointed me greatly. This is unacceptably bad for an item that is only a few months old and has only ever been handled with care (hand washed, air dried, never thrown into a sink full of dishes, immediately displayed after washing).

This is the best pour over I've ever had after trying a variety of them
5/5

We've been a pour-over crew for quite some time now. For a few years, I've been in charge of the household. We used to have a ceramic pour-over sink. over a coffee dripper that lasted a long time before breaking while being washed in the sink. Then I read that the best flavor comes from glass, so we went out and bought the Hario glass version. That was broken in a matter of weeks. Now we've settled on this plastic version, which has clearly outlasted them all. I understand that some people believe it alters the flavor, but I don't believe it does. We find it to be effective, and we enjoy our pour-overs. every morning over coffee A good electric gooseneck kettle, a carafe if you're making coffee for two people, and Hario brand coffee filters (white) would be my recommendations.
